I'm now laying on the couch. AJ walks over and puts a cold washcloth on my forehead.
"You could have just told me you didn't want to because you were sick." AJ says stroking my cheek.
"Well, I couldn't get the words out." I say.
"That's OK sweetie. I understand." AJ says kissing me on the cheek.
I think to myself, 'Baby, if you only knew. I want to tell you so bad, but the thought of telling you...how do I do this?'
"What's on your mind sweetie?" AJ asks.
I almost get up the nerve to tell him; then I loose it.
"Nothing really; just sick at my stomach." I say.
"You want to stay here? Or you want me to carry you to your room?" AJ says.
"I think I'll stay here if you don't mind." I say.
"Mind? Why would I
mind? I haven't seen you in two months, I was going to ask you to
stay the night anyway. You want me
to...this sounds so funny...walk
down to your room and get your night clothes." AJ asks laughing a
little.
"Sure. Just tell Tiffany to get my night bag. By the way, we're in room 411." I say.
"OK, be right back." AJ says as he starts to walk out the door.
"Wait!" I yell.
"What?!? What is it?" AJ asks.
"Put something on besides those. That's for my eyes, and my eyes only." I say.
"Jealous are we?" AJ says as he pulls a pair of Jeans on.
"Just hurry up. I can't stand to be away from you that long." I say as AJ walks out the door.
AJ comes back and says, "She gave me the pleasure of picking out what you get to sleep in."
"And let me guess...you came back with no clothes." I say with a laugh.
"Looks like your feeling better." AJ says handing me my night bag and clothes.
"A little I guess. Still feel sick though." I say.
"Well, don't worry about a thing. I'll take good care of you." AJ says as I walk into the bathroom to change. I come out of the bathroom wearing a tank top and a pair of undies.
I walk into AJ's bedroom and say, "Well, I was close when I said no clothes."
"Ha ha, your funny. Get over here." AJ says. I walk over to the bed and slip under the blanket with AJ. He puts his arms around me and kisses me on the neck.
"You know what?" AJ asks.
"What?" I ask.
"I love you." AJ says.
"Aw, I love you too." I say. I close my eyes and start to go to sleep.
"Oh before you go to sleep; I wanted to ask you something." AJ says.
"What's that?" I ask.
"There's this 'Sing-in' tomorrow night. You want to go with me?" AJ asks.
"Umm...is it going to be crowded?" I ask as I think about my baby.
"Well, yeah. It's going to be packed." AJ says.
"You know I want to. But..." I say.
"But what?" AJ says.
"I can't. I'm still pretty tired from catching up with you. I was planning on...well, staying in. I'm so sorry." I say.
"That's OK, let's go to sleep."
AJ says.
I can see the disappointment
in his eyes, and I can hear it in his voice. I close my eyes and
go to sleep.
(The next morning)
I open my eyes to the sound of AJ talking to Howie. I'm so tired I want to just go back to sleep. I think to myself, 'man this pregnancy thing takes a lot out of you.'
"I don't know what's up with her. It's like something's changed between us or something." AJ says.
"I think she's just tired from the trip. I know as well as you do that a trip across the ocean messes your schedule up. We're just used to it; she's not." Howie says.
"But still, she didn't even want to..." AJ says.
"Want to what?" Howie asks. AJ looks out the window.
"Look, we're best friends, I think you can tell me." Howie says.
"She didn't even want to make love last night." AJ says.
"Like I said, she's probably just really tired. Don't worry about it, with in the next couple of days; everything will be back to normal." Howie says.
'Boy, if he only knew how unnormal this is going to be.' I think to myself. I hear someone walk in the direction of the room. I close my eyes. Then I feel AJ's soft lips touch mine. I stir and look into his eyes.
"Good morning beautiful. Have a good sleep?" AJ asks.
"Yeah, but I'm still a little tired." I say.
"Well, that's expected after a trip like that." Howie says.
"Oh hey big bro!" I say. Howie walks over and give me a hug.
"So I heard that you haven't been feeling good." Howie says.
"Yeah." I say.
"Well, I'm sure everything will be back to normal soon. Until then, I think you should get as much rest as possible." Howie says.
"Yeah, yeah. I will." I say.
"I'm going to go get you something to eat love." AJ says. "I'll be back in a little bit, OK?"
"OK." I say kissing AJ.
After AJ leaves the room; Howie says, "It sure looks like things are pretty much normal. What is AJ talking about?"
"What do you mean?" I ask acting like I don't know what's going on.
