Heather looks
at me in disbelief. "You were spying on us." She says
"You know,
it's not a usually thing with me. Actually, I hate people that spy.
But I am sure glad I did this time. What do you think your doing?
You didn't see Brian do any of that stuff did you?" I say sharply
"Brian and I
are supposed to be together. And he knows it." Heather says
"What?!?!"
I yell
Everyone turns
and looks at us. Even AJ wakes up again.
"What's wrong?"
Kevin and Howie ask
"Why don't you
have Heather tell you?" I say looking at her
She whispers
to me, "Please. I'll fix everything, just don't tell them."
I look at everyone
and Nick says, "Well what's up?"
I stand there
thinking, then I get an idea.
"She just talking to
Brian about how she's worried about him and Sarah." I say
"Oh OK.
I think we all are." AJ says
"Yeah, well I
think it'd be better if everyone went home and got a good nights sleep."
I say
AJ says, "Yeah"
and starts to get up.
I run over to
him, put my hand on his shoulder, and say, "Babe you're staying here.
Remember?"
"Oh, I forgot.
I'm tired!" he says putting his hands over his face
"I know.
It's OK" I say
Everyone starts
to leave; I grab Kevin's sleeve and pull him back into the room.
"Hey maybe you
should go and stay at Brian's. He probably needs someone to talk
to." I whisper
Kevin nods his
head and says, "OK I will."
"Oh and one more
thing. Keep Heather away from Brian for me. I don't trust her."
I say
Kevin says,
"OK if you're having a funny feeling about someone, this must be
serious. Why do I have the feeling that you weren't telling the truth
earlier?"
"Just do
what I said, please." I say with a smile
Kevin smiles
and gives me a hug goodbye. "You know your just like a little sis
to me." He says
"And you're
the big brother I never had." I say
He walks
out and I close the door. I walk over to the couch, were AJ is now
asleep again. I walk into the hall and get some extra blankets for
him. I bring them into the front room and set them on the floor.
I take off his other shoe and sock. I take off his hat and jacket
and he stays sound asleep. I get him a new ice pack and put it on
his ankle. Then I take off his sunglasses and he sits straight up.
"Hey put those
back." He says grabbing them from me.
"Babe you can't
sleep with them on." I say
He looks at me
with puppy eyes and says, "Please."
I smile
and say, "How can I say no to those big brown eyes."
"You can't"
AJ says with a smile as he pulls me down to his level.
I sit on
the floor next to him, looking into his eyes.
"Come
here" he says
I move
towards him and our lips meet.
I move
back and pick up a blanket. I softly pull it over him.
"Are you
cold? Do you think you need another one?" I ask
"No I'll
be fine" He says
I say,
"OK. If you need anything during the night, just yell for me.
I don't want you to get up anymore than you have to."
"OK"
he says "I shouldn't need anything."
I lean
down, kiss his cheek, and say, "goodnight sweetie."
"Goodnight.
I love you." He says
I turn
around and say, "I love you too."
Then I
walk into my room. I get into my tank top and boxers then walk into
the bathroom. I wash my face and brush my teeth. On my way
back to my room I peak in Sarah's room. She's sitting on the edge
of her bed with her face in her hands.
I walk
in the room slowly and softly ask, "Sarah, girl are you OK?"
"Should
I be?" She asks sarcastically
"You should
after what I have to tell you. But you can't tell anyone, not yet
at least." I say
"What?"
she asks
I go on
and tell her what I heard Heather say and how she said Brian was hers.
Then I tell her my plan.
"It would
be just too easy to go ahead and tell the guys everything Heather did.
How about we make her sweat a little. Maybe in the end she’ll be
so stressed she’ll tell them." I say with a smile
"What do
you have in mind?" She asks
We discuss
our plan and decide on what we are going to do.
(While
I'm in bed around mid-night)
"Suzanna,
help me!" I hear AJ yell
Sarah and
I run down the hall towards the front room. I run over to AJ and
he's laying on the couch holding his ankle.
"What's
wrong?" I say
"Oh my
gosh, it hurts so bad." He says
I look
at his ankle, it is really swollen and red.
"Sarah
call the doctor." I say
She grabs
the phone and dials it.
I sit next
to AJ and hold him in my arms. I say, "It's going to be OK sweetie.
I promise."
"OK the
doctor says to get him to the hospital. Because his foot could be
broke and if he doesn't get it checked it could do permanent damage."
Sarah says
I run down
the hall to change and when I'm done I run back to AJ's side. I put
his other shoe and sock on(leaving the swollen ankle bare). I give
his hat and sunglasses. Then I help him put on his jacket.
Sarah runs into the front room and helps me get him to the elevator.
We reach the first floor and start moving AJ towards the door. We
get outside and the doorman flags down a taxi.
"I'm
going to stay here. I'll call Brian and Kevin, I'll have them pick
me up. Then we'll meet you at the hospital." Sarah says while
she helps me get AJ into the taxi.
"OK, I'll
see you in a little while" I say turning to the driver "Take
us to St. Johns Hospital. And please hurry."
