Zac had run off somewhere along with Mackenzie and Avery. Isaac was helping to feed Zoe. Meanwhile, Mr. H fixed breakfast. Mrs. Hanson was sleeping in because of her super-early adventures with Joce and Zac.
"So, you guys are leaving again tomorrow?" Jocelyn asked Jessie. Jessie nodded.
"We're off again to...to..."
"Philadelphia," Isaac told her.
"Yeah," Jessie said. "Philadelphia. We'll lose another hour. Yuck."
"Jess gets the effect of jet lag in double doses," Mr. Hanson said as he placed a plate of french toast on the table. Immediately, hands went to grabbing, and the three kids who had been missing suddenly appeared and took their spots. Zac sat down by Jocelyn, giving her side a discrete pinch. She kicked him back.
"I don't like it when we change time zones," Jessie agreed with her father, shaking her head. "At least I don't barf on planes the way Zac does."
Zac made a face. "Motion sickness SUCKS."
"Zaaac," Mr. Hanson warned from behind the stove.
"Right," Zac said, grinning sheepishly. "No more saying the S-word."
"What do you think of changing time zones, Avie?" Jocelyn asked.
Avery took a bite of toast. "I think it's cool that when you go to someplace like California, it doesn't get dark for a reaaally long time the first day you're there, but then the next day it's all back to normal," she said, chunks of food flying out of her mouth sporadically. She added, "But you feel all nasty cos you've slept too long."
"That's the worst part," Isaac agreed. "You either get too much sleep, or not enough. It depends on which direction you go."
"Or when you lose days," Zac said. "And then come home, and you've already been through that day. It's just...really weird."
"Yeah," all the kids agreed.
Jocelyn looked at them, eyebrows raised. "Wow. I couldn't imagine changing time zones so much."
"It's pretty cool...as long as you don't have to do it like 20 times in one week," Isaac told her. "It's a good way to get confused."
"Oh," Jocelyn said, laughing. "Yeah..."
"I think I'm gonna go see Skye today," Taylor mumbled loudly. Everyone looked at him. He stood up, stretched, yawned, scratched himself in an area that we won't mention, and walked off talking to himself about needing a shower.
"Taylor, aren't you going to eat breakfast?" his dad called after him.
"Yeah, we've got plenty of shampoo!" Taylor yelled back.
All the kids eyes widened and then burst out laughing.
"Some people, such as Taylor, are ALWAYS confused, with or without time zone changes," Isaac said, causing them to laugh even more.
