Pilot Butte Fire Department

Our Fire Department protects an area of approximately 100 square miles in a mixed urban and rural setting comprising the Town of Pilot Butte and the RM of Edenwold. We are a department with a high level of training and dedication to our community. Our Fire Department is proud to be recognized as one of the best-trained and equipped Fire Departments outside of major centers in Canada. We respond to 70 + calls for assistance every year!

Fire Department personnel are trained to current NFPA standards. Most of our members are also Registered Volunteer First Responders or EMT's. Our chief is a Certified Fire Service Instructor and teaches our own FD. All new members undergo a 6 month probationary period and have to complete the approved course of instruction. We regularly train on on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Pilot Butte Fire Hall. All members must complete certain mandatory classes every year.

We currently have 1 Engine and 2 tankers. Our engine is equipped with a 1000-gallon tank for rapid fire suppression response. It also contains vehicle extrication equipment (Jaws of Life), medical supplies and numerous other equipment. During the summer months the engine is equipped with grass fire nozzels. Our 2 tankers each carry 2500 gallons of water along with other equipment required at both vehicle accidents and fires.

The Pilot Butte Fire Department provides a variety of public education programs to address fire, life safety and informational community needs. Tours and classes are delivered by trained firefighters.

                         - Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Classes
