ShinRa Inc. Archives: Vincent Valentine

Vincent Valentine:Profile

Spoilers included, you have been warned!

Some twenty-seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII, three scientists, Professor Gast, a brilliant and ethical man, Hojo, a twisted, cruel soul whose genius could not be denied, and a femal lab assistant, made their way to the secluded town of Nibelheim to begin what would become the Jenova Project, a key element of the FFVII story line. However, these brilliant minds were no alone, they were accompanied by a young man named Vincent Valentine, then one of ShinRa Inc.'s famous "secret police", The Turks. Assigned to protect the scientists, Vincent felt it was a simple task. Then she came.

Adopt a Vincent here!

Her name was Lucretia. The sole female scientist on the team and the siren of Vincent's dreams. He secretly loved her, but he could not leave his love unrequited forever. One day, he expressed his feelings for her. She ran away in tears after his heartfelt confession. Vincent stood alone and confused in the center of Nibelheim, after a few moments, he decided to go for a walk to clear his head. Upon reaching the gates of the town, he noticed to people kissing passionately, Lucretia and Hojo!

ARRRRRRRGH! How could you choose Hojo over Vincent, you selfish bitch? Look at vincent's Sprite, you can tell how much his little Lego-esque heart is hurting! :(

Vincent was crushed, however, he loved Lucretia so much, that as long as she was happy, he wouldn't mind if she loved someone else(He's so sweet, isn't). He allowed her to do as she wished with Hojo and herself, he never said anything.

A short time later, a son was born to Lucretia and Hojo, his name was Sephiroth! (Yeah, that Sephiroth!) Hojo used Lucretia as a guinea pig in his experiments in which he tried to create the perfect soldier. He injected both lucretia and her then unborn child with jenova cells. While Sephiroth was given phenomenal power, the process caused Lucretia's body to degenerate and she collapsed on the floor of her room shortly after Sephiroth's birth. Vincent, enraged at this warped experimentation, confronted Hojo in the basement of the ShinRa Mansion. Usually an excellent shot, Vincent was so blinded by emotion that he didn't have time to react to Hojo's attack. Hojo shot Vincent and stood calmly above him as Vincent slowy fell to the ground.

Hojo took this oppurtunity to experiment on vincent, altering his body and causing him to undergo ghastly transfomations when his limit gauge becomes full. When Vincent first awakens after his encounter with Hojo, he staggers off of an operating table. He grabs his sides after a few steps and the screen goes black. grisly noises are heard, followed by a deep throated roar. Vincent's thoughts appear :

"This body is my punishment for my sins."

Afterwards, he is imprisoned in a coffin and put in stasis for twenty-seven years. He awaits in the dark, for someone to awaken him from his nightmares. Are you that someone?

Vincent's Transformations (Limit Breaks)

Level 1: Galian Beast-A purple, horned monster with a brilliant red mane that attacks with the fire element.
Level 2: Death Gigas-A grey Frankenstein monster that attacks with physical blows and electricity.
Level 3: Hellmasker-A chainsaw bearing creature whose form is hidden beneath a straightjacket and a hockey mask. It attacks physically and with a slew of negative statuses.
Level 4: Chaos-Undoubtaby the coolest transformation of all, it is a large purple demon with horns and large bat wings. Like something out of a nightmare it floats delicately above the ground as it performs incredibly deadly nonelemental attacks that cause severe damage to all enemies. It's no wonder Vincent says, "I'm becoming less human," after he learns this transformation, It's unpredictable and powerful in battle, keep him in your party for this limit break.

What does Chibi Hime Think?

What do I personally think of him? In short I love him. His story is tragic, but he keeps going on. He could have stayed in the coffin like he originally wanted to, but he chose to go after them to stop Hojo's (Yes, I believe Sephiroth is Hojo's son, not Vincent's) son from destroying the world, oh and getting revenge on Hojo, of course. You can't keep him down. Hojo tried, but Vincen came back and played a part in the downfall of the cruel scientist. Hojo deserved everything that happened to him. His experiments proved that (Just look at the flashback scene in the Nibelheim reactor. When the monster breaks out of its tube and dies, the scream it emits is terrifyingly human. It gave me the creeps when I first watched it, it still does, ewwwww! And that music, shudder). Of course, I think Sephiroth should have killed him, but that's me.

I DO NOT believe for a millisecond that Sephiroth is Vincent's son. I've heard arguments that they look the same and that Vincent was having a "romantic" relationship with Lucretia. Yeah, but it seems pretty one sided to me. She does push away from him and run away when he confesses to her. It takes two to tango, if ya know what I mean. She seems, for whatever reason, history, money or (gasp!) love, to care about Hojo and science more than Vincent, or even her own child. She is a disgusting woman, can you tell I hate her? Vincent is too good for this wench! Whoa, was that off topic. In the GAME (SOLID PROOF AHEAD) Hojo says that he's Sephiroth's father. This guy knew his genes, I imagine that he has taken and examined countless samples of Sephiroth's DNA and tissue. He would notice if it were not similar to his own, he's not an idiot, he's a genius. But I still hate Lucretia more. I just do, nothing anyone says will convince me she's anything more than a self-centered whore. There, I said it!

Alright, back to what I think about Vincent (YAY!) He's a Turk( alright, he used to be), that automatically makes him a badass. Being a badass is synonomous with ultimate coolness in my book. (Jango, Boba, D........I LOVE YOU ALL) He looks SO DAMN COOL! He's got black hair, which I thinks look best short, but he is one of the few who can pull off both. He wears all black and red (Two of my four favorite colors). His eyes are red, in real life, its creepy, but in anime/games, its sexy.(Yes, I am a sick, sad little girl). He turns into monsters that rip, burn, electrocute and generally hurt your enemies, but don't harm you. There is only one thing that slightly bothers me-He blames himself for things that are not his fault in any way. Poor Vincent and his misplaced guilt. Don't be sad, Vincent, we all love you (most in a "just friends" way)
