Actor: Ian Kelsey

Job Title: Senior Registrar

Background on Patrick:

Series 14

Patrick Spiller was first seen on Casualty half way through series 14, almost running over a cyclist, of which Sean witnesses. He later confronts Patrick about it, but he denied it.  He was always disliked by the staff for his rude and arrogant manner, so it was a big surprise to ever see him show any affection, but the Holly came in. She seemed to have a grudge against him and no-one was sure why. They first saw each other, after all those years in resus. Clearly, they were both surprised and their reaction was enough to make any of the staff suspisious about their past. Holly pretends she doesn't know him by introducing herself, but all is given away when Patrick's little remark 'long time, no see'. Tina asks Holly about it, but Holly says it was nothing. We found out later that they used to date in medical school for a few months until she ended it and wanted nothing more to do with him, but by the end of the series, the two were already closer as he comforted her after she became too involved in her next door neighbours problems, causing the children to go into care and their mother, quite likely ending up in jail. He hugged her and told her althoght she tried, she couldn't handle things like this on her own. Unlike all the rest of the staff,he was the one who managed to get a smile on her face.Read the Script

Series 15

Series 15 is where we start to see Patrick's softer side. It starts off when he gives Spencer, the new Health Care Assistant, a bed for the night after he was chucked out of his bedsit unfairly. He also seems very jealous when Holly has to go for an interview with a local newspaper reporter at a local restaurant. There was always a grudge between Patrick and Dan where Holly was involved. It always seemed obvious that Patrick liked Holly, and was very proective when any other men were around, even thought he tried not to show it.

One of the most touching episodes was when Patrick was taken in the ambulance out to an RTA. There was an old man, stuck in the car while the firemen tried to cut him out. The man said him and his wife had had an argument that morning and he never told her he was sorry. He gave Patrick a box of chocolates to give to her. He died and Patrick gave them to his wife and told her what had happened, with tears in the corners of his eyes. At the end of the series, we discover more about their past when Holly's ex Ed, turns up in Hoby. He was also a med student and Holly was with him, but left him for Patrick. Then, Ed overdosed and Patrick saved his life. Holly heard Patrick had told the dean and got Ed chucked out of the course, but from what Patrick said, that was't true and Ed made it up, so the two of them would split up. The two got in an argument and Patrick said Holly kept trying to change him and added he'd never be good enough for her. He walked off.Read the script

Holly later found him and said he was good enough for her. She asked if he fancied going out for a drink after the shift. He accepted and were left smiling, not suspecting that things were about to take a sinister turn.Go to Stalker Incident
