Herein lies the page where everyone may gather to read about their favorite (and not so favorite) anime shows. This list, which is growing all of the time, will give a small insight into several shows of anime- Japanimation. So...here goes...And any additions from you can be made at any time, and are appreciated.
Rurouni Kenshin
Characters: Himura Kenshin. Kamiya Kaoru. Myojin Yahiko. Sagara Sanosuke. Sagara Sozo. Takani Megumi. Others.
Author: Watsuki Nobuhiro
Synopsis: Taking place ten years after the Meiji Era, the main character, Kenshin goes to start a new life in Tokyo with friends Kaoru, Yahiko, Sanosuke and others. Kenshin is no ordinary swordsmen, but happens to be the the greatest killer in all Japan, once called the Battousai, for his great slayings. However, he vows that he will never kill again, after the killing of his wife.
This anime and manga is action packed, but also makes room for romance and comedy, both seen much through Kaoru and Kenshins' attractions and Yahiko, the young orphan boy now learning from Kenshin.
Cowboy Bebop
Characters: Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV (Radical Edward), Ein.
Creator: Watanabe Shinichiro
Synopsis: It is the year 2071. Long ago, humankind began to create gates for space travel, until a major accident with the gates happened. Now dozens of nations and tribes of people roam the galaxy, including of course outlaws. These are the bounty hunters or cowboys. The characters of Spike (formerly of the Red Dragon Syndicate) and Jet (formerly with the ISSP- Inter Solar Space Police) reconvert several fishing boats into space ships and become bounty hunters. They search for bounties and ultimately meet up with Faye (a woman from the past, once in Cold Sleep, now a drifter/bounty hunter), Ein (the hacker dog) and Edward (Radical Edward, the hacker).
Tons of action throughout the whole show, great diverse characters - many of whom can't seem to shake the past. Lots of comedy though, to break the serious bounty hunting monotony.
FLCL
Characters: Nandaba Naota, Haruhara Haruko, Samajim Mamimi, Canti, Nandaba Kamon, Ninamori Eri, Amarao, Others.
Creator: Gainax
Synopsis: In a town called Mabase, a young boy named Naota said good-bye to his older brother who left for America, and is left with his brothers' girlfriend Mamimi, and an otaku dad, Kamon. Then all of a sudden a woman on a yellow vespa shows up and hits Naota on the forehead with her Gibson guitar, and things start...coming out of his forehead. This vespa woman is really Haruko, an alien from space in search of someone called "Atomsk", and she thinks that Naota is the only one that can find him.
One of the strangest OAV's ever created by Gainax, but the more you watch it the more you love it. Tons of action, top notch animation here, great characters, comedy, sci-fi?, and even a bit of perverted humour. Even Gainax gives us a bit of humour into The Matrix, South Park, and other shows and movies. Just what is Furi Kuri, anyways?
