1. There are many different spreads you can use. You can use established spreads, or you can create your own. I have adapted the 5 card Horseshow to suit me and it works well. As always, do what feels right to you. You should probably use an established spread until you become adept at reading, but, like I said, if a spread you've created feels right, use it.

2. The most commonly used spread is the Celtic Cross. This spread is widely used and covers a lot of different aspects for a very accurate, in depth reading. Since it is so common, it is usually shown in the books that come with your deck, so I won't cover it here.

3. My favorite spread is my adaptation of the 5 card Horseshoe. It is simple but very accurate.

4. The first 2 cards indicate what is going on now and what in the past may have caused the problem.

5. The middle card shows what may not be expected; it is a card of transition between the present and the future.

6. The last 2 cards show the future as it stands if the querent continues on the present path. They will usually show what the querent must do in order to achieve their goals.

The Card of the Day is a good way to indicate where your day will be headed. Simply shuffle the deck until it feels right and pull 1 card and study it. Doing this daily is not only a good way to plan for your day, but also a way to learn the cards. You can also use this if the querent is still puzzled about the reading and needs another card to help clarify things.

There are literally hundreds of different spreads for Tarot. The best book I've found for this is "The Complete Book of Tarot Spreads" by Evelin Burger and Johannes Fiebig.
