Darkness Reigns LARP: Session 4 Synopsis "Assumption of Risk"

Synopsis: Session 4 - "Assumption of Risk"

Back to Session 4 Summeries

Observations of Jacob Palmer (Clan Brujah, Primogen):

My fellow Kindred,

Friday the 15th of June, 2001 will go down in history as the first ever drama-free meeting of our kind. We as a city spent the entire evening together, and as I can recall we were not attacked my any anything, no one was killed, or even sentenced to death, the Elysium was not blown-up, nor over run by Sabbat, and not a single humanoid walked into the Elysium with a sudden case of amnesia. All in all I find that so remarkable that the rest of my doing for the evening pale in comparison. BUT, for the sake of posterity, I will make a brief account of my action and observations below, so that others may someday look back and think "gee, that's the most boring Brujah I've ever heard of".

Well, the night started off with a relatively short and tame Rant in which the Brujah all sort of just talked. Then there was Court, which proved to be jsut about what we all expected, some status removal, some status granting, orders for meetings later in the evening. A brief hint of dramatic action showed up with the arival of a new ventrue, but was quickly squashed. Turns out that not only did he remember who he was, but the Ventrue Elder (The beautiful Ms. Sephrenia) knew him as well. How novel.

After Court we all sort of mingled and waited for the Gangrel to get out of their Clan meeting so the leaders of the "Response Teams" could meet with the Prince and discuss our plans therefor. When that was over we kinda mingled some more. I "got my chat on" with a few people I've not had time to talk to in a while. cleared up some personal concerns and what not. (on a side note, I think someone was messing with my head the whole evening. I can't prove it, but I was having these wierd auditory hallucinations all night. I'm sorry if I asked a few people to repeat themselves more than once...)

Ok, this has gotten boring. Like I said, nothing happened Friday. I went home, read a bit, watched some late night tv show about some guy who talks to dead people and went to bed. End of story.

Hope you all had more excitment than I did, though I guess a relaxing evening amongst our kind is warranted once in a while. Just eerie that's all. Kinda like I'd imagine it would be if we all walked around talking like the computer from that space movie... "I'm sorry Prince, I'm afraid I can't do that".

Eerie...

Observations of Raphael Emersen (Clan Brujah):

Compared to two weeks ago, this night of Elysium was rather subued, almost boring. That's not to say there wasn't any tension. The Prince was in a foul mood, our Elder was absent, and many were still nursing their wounds..and their egos. I for one tried to stay out of the way for much of the night. I almost wish the Sabbat would attack again, if only to give us something to vent our rage and frustrations on...

I arrived at Elysium well before court. Our clan rant would not be for some time either, so I took the opportunity to "network". I talked with several people, mostly about the city and who was who in the various districts. I had begun making connections in the city and I didn't want to tread on anyone's toes if I could avoid it. Dr. Wu was particularly helpful in directing my interests. He seemed almost eager to give information and services for free. His reputation has taken a nose-dive as of late and I suspect he is trying to repair it.

I also spoke with Mr. Tran briefly. We talked of recent medical advances and how it might affect the city in the near future. He seems to be very busy with his new job. I hope he is not being overly burdened.

At one point I accidentally interrupted an important conversation between Dr. Wu and some members of Clan Nosferatu, one of which I did not recognize. He came to me afterward asking if there was a "problem". I informed him that it had been a simple mistake on my part, nothing important. This new Nos was later acknowledged as "Jimmy". I saw him in passing frequently that night. He always seemed to be wandering about, looking in every direction as if he were a chicken. I wonder if he's on drugs or something...

Court that evening focused on clan members rather than current events in the city. New kindred were introduced. Several people were honored or chastised. Status seems to be rising and falling like the stock market as of late. The Nos in particular are not doing well. Their situation became even worse when the elevator to the sewers became clogged with, well, sewage. The stench was terrible, damn my newly improved senses. The Prince was later seen with a pair of torn off limbs in his hands as he scolded the Nosferatu Primogen. Hopefully by the next Elysium someone will explain what exactly happened, and who the poor wretch was that lost the arms.

One of the more interesting announcements was made by a Tremere by the name of John Johnson. He had created a simple bone that could be used for lie detection. This was interesting not so much because of the bone, but because of Mr. Johnson's reputation. I had heard rumors of this Tremere, and was not surprised to find out later that his magic bone was apparently stuck in reverse. I plan to stay as far away from him as possible in the future, as do many of the Tremere.

Near the end of the night, one of the Harpies took me aside and asked me about the fight in the theater. It seems Mr. Sharp had been slighted during court, and Tyche was trying to get this corrected. My description of the battle seem to have solidified Mr. Sharp's case, and I suspect we will see him properly recognized at the next Elysium. I also spoke with Tyche about being on one of the clean-up teams. The response teams were already filled and I needed something to do before I went crazy. Nights like these at Elysium may be interesting, but their lack of focus leaves something to be desired.

Not to tempt fate, but where are the Sabbat when you need them?
