Jedi in love
The dark path by torch and Lilith Sedai - Te recc'd this first and I have to thank her and agree with her that even though we didn't know it at the time, this is what I too secretly wanted when I was a little girl growing up (as probably most little girls do) with a thing for Princess Leia. Although come to think of it, the situations I got my action figures into... incestuous dynastic marriages are the stuff of which good epics are made, right?
The Surrender to the Light series (so far includes three out of a projected five stories) by Hth -- This is actually the first TPM slash--which is to say, the first TPM fic--I ever read, because I was vaguely put off by the idea of the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan pairing on the grounds that it was too incestuous, and not in a good way. Of course, that was before discovering Hth, and reading her exquisite Conquest, in which she made the whole concept work for me without hitting a single wrong note.
Lost in translation by Helen was the second Phantom Menace thing I read and what I loved about it (and what I think continued to sell me on the pairing) was how funny it is--one of the problems I have with a lot of TPM is that while I totally appreciate the extreme S&M and manga-influenced slash epics and graphic novels this fandom has produced just on principle, I don't recognize the characters in them. However, I can recognize Helen's Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan insofar as the characters in the movie could obviously snark with the best of them and this story is all about the snark. And the hot sex.
Jane St. Clair also helped make me a believer, and strangely enough I find that despite my usual NC-17 tastes I like her less explicit Carefully Everywhere Descending and Floating World. Although if you want smut in its purest form, Leaving Marks could have been written by Anne Rice on a good day. Check out her entire Phantom Menace page.
Then there's Crystallize by Torch, another non-NC-17 story which actually reminds me of "Floating World". And Meet Another is an AU with slave Qui-Gon being rescued from Tattoine by Obi-Wan and I'm way too tired to write this right now, sorry.... And oh God, I forgot, Torch wrote another Star Wars story (Two Reasons) about Han, Luke, and Leia that you should read.
That's no moon. It's a space station...
