Roman Mythology

Vulcan - Gods and Goddesses

Vulcan was the Roman God of fire (destructive fire) and craftsmanship. He was believed to have a forge beneath Mt. Aetna. Since his fires were thought to be destructive, his temples were normally built outside of the city. On his festival, the Vulcnalia, held August 23rd, live fish were thrown into fires.
