News: War, What is it Good For? -- Chris @ 7:50pm || Post in the forum
I don't know what else there is. America has to protect its people, what the people that did what they did on Tuesday provoked war, if not war, some kind of military action.

I know they mean what they say since what I saw today was something that I did not expect to see (yet I did not expect what happened on Tuesday to happen). I heard for the first time what I thought to be air planes. Something that I have not heard in a while. As they got closer, I knew that they were helicopters. Little did I know was what lied behind them a few seconds after they passed. There were not one, but two F16 fighter planes that were escorting them to New York City.

F-16 Fighter Jet As you know, an F16 is not the usual plane that is seen above people's homes during normal times. These things are fast, they are loud, they are for one thing, and for one thing only. They are war planes. The reason why they were escorting the helicopters was because the same helicopters had the President onboard.

The sound from them was incredible. When they banked to turn around, is when you could really feel the power from them. It got louder and louder, and when you could see the belly of them, you could see that they were dressed for business. When I say that, I mean they were armed with missiles and guns.

From what I have seen, I know they are not just talking about it, and not going to do what they say. (They have not really "let us down" before, however.) But I can be rest assured that they mean business from what I saw.

This time of tragedy has seemed so bad, yet it has brought out some of the best of us Americans. I have never seen so many people welcome strangers with open arms. I have never seen anything like this with so many people wanting to be a part of this, wanting to help any way they can. I think this is going to change the nation as we know it. It may seem so bad that we lost so many good people of this fine nation, but I think this is a wakeup call to a lot of people. I think people are going to remember how precious life is, how easily it can come, and then go the next second. I think people are going to start making themselves stand for something, have some meaning.

I know this is supposed to deal with "funny" or "stupid" news, but at times like this, words of support can go a long way. And the people that are looking for people in that mess in New York City right now as you read this need as much support as they can get. For their efforts, and anything else that they have done to help out, I think we all should say "thank you" as a nation.
