Possible VCR Alert -- Chris @ 9:40pm
You know a VCR... that "thing" that has been sitting on your shelf for sometime now just collecting dust.
What's there to tape? Well;
Man Made Wonders
Celebrate the greatest of man-made achievements, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Machu Picchu, the Trans-Siberian Railway, Mt. Rushmore, the Taj Mahal, Sydney Opera House, the Panama Canal, Angkor Wat, the pyramids and the Great Wall of China.
Why bother? I mean, it is on in *oh my god!* 20 minutes from now, starting at 10pm Eastern Time. Ah, don't worry, It's on TLC meaning that it will be on again right after they show it (trust me, I know).
Am I going to watch it, sure. Why not? And will you be able to? Probably not since you would be reading this tomorrow when it is too late *muhahaha* Don't worry, I am sure that you can buy it on tape after they show it, one of those "Seen On TV" offers from TLC and TLC only.
This Is No Way To Set An Example -- Chris @ 6:21pm
Kiddies, drinking and driving is not something that go well together, so dont do it.
The coordinator of Dona Ana County's drunken-driving prevention program has been arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated at a DWI awareness picnic.
You would have thought that she had known better. Tisk tisk tisk, thats very bad you know. Now some kid will think that he or she can do it too since their instructor did it?
And at this "picnic", they were serving booze? Just something that I would like to point out since they all there were against booze at the time, which does not make sense, unless she brought the booze himself.
Her blood-alcohol level was 0.09 percent -- the legal limit in New Mexico is 0.08 -- and she failed four of five coordination tests, police said.
Oh, .09 and the limit it .08, sooo close but yet so far. Sorry charlie. Well, the coorination tests were not so hot. I cannot recite the alphabet backwards, that is too hard for me on any day. I can touch my nose and look up at the same time however. Is that something to be damn proud of?
Why Is The Sky Blue? -- Chris @ 1:20pm
How many times have you ever wonder "why is the sky blue?" And have you ever really figured it all out? I have figured it all out now, actually, thanks to AskJeeves.com.
As you can see, I think I have a little too much time on my hands as of now, what do you expect? Its summer you know. Anyway, without further delay, here is the million dollar answer to the million dollar question:
A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.
Good, I am glad that I got that out of the way. That was really bothering me this past lifetime of mine.
Next, why doesn't air weight anything? No it does weigh something... for every little 1 inch by 1 inch square, there is about 32 pounds of air pussing down. So Why don't we weigh tons you ask?
Simple, we move through the air.
Are there any other witty questions that I forgot to possibly answer?
Happy Birthday to... -- Chris @ 10:03am
Harry Potter... that's right;
Warner Bros. is encouraging fans to celebrate the birthday of fictional wizard-child Harry Potter.
Holy smokes, does that mean we get off from work and school for like a week or something if we all do that?! If the book is that big, sure why not, let's do something with it then.
In fact, instead of a tree to decorate, you have a pole that you decorate for that one night, and on that night, the great St. Potter will go through your window and leave lot's of presents for you ... under the pole.
And for the Harry Potter biggest fan award, he or she will get a red Corvette in his or her favorite color! Wow! What a deal folks, so get reading, quickly
Pop Tarts = Fire? No Way.... -- Chris @ 10:03am
A lady was dumb enough to put a pop tart into her toster, and then leave her home to go drive her children to preschool, and she said when she got back smoke was pouring out of her house.
Do you think for a second that she wounder, "Gee... what could have made the house go on fire?"
The best part about this is that the lady is suing the Pop-Tart company Kellogg Co. for $100,000.
What? Did I read that correctly? Someone is suing someone else because they did not have any common sense, and that they did not read the lable on the box that said something on the order of "Do not leave toaster unattended"
I like doing this all of the time, I will put something in the oven, and then just go off to work, and come back and I am shocked at what I see when I turn the corner. Then I quickly think to myself, "Gee what did I do to make that happen?"
Come on... don't let her get that 100,000, just because someone does not have enough sense to know that sometimes tosters don't always popup, you simply wait 3 minutes or whatever and pop it out yourself.
Before I Hit The Sack... -- Chris @ 1:49am
Before I actually "go to sleep", I would like to just tell you about the contest Jon has issued on the forum late yesterday:
Many organizations have a little picture...a logo if you will. The Geekery has been around since March of this year and has gone without a logo. I pose a contest. To the person who creates the best logo for the Geekery, that person will receive a free tee-shirt that includes their prize winning logo...Dont worry chris. I got the tee-shirt thing covered.
Okay, you heard him, fire up paint and whatnot now. If you are the winner, be sure you email him and not me for the shirt with the logo that you made on it.
Oh yea, to post the pictures that you whip up, either email them to Jon himself or put them on the forum.
