What is all this with the teachers on strike over in Middletown.
Teachers who make less than $30,000 would contribute nothing to the cost of their health insurance.
Teachers earning $30,000 to $50,000, would pitch in three percent
At the $50,000 to $65,000 mark, teachers would contribute five percent.
$65,000 and up - be responsible for seven per cent of the insurance premiums.
Lets do some math here.
$30,000 devided by the 184 days that they work devided by the 5 days per week. So it's $32.60 per week. Thats the weekly salary for regular teachers over there.
For the guidance counselors:
$30,000 to $50,000 per year, devided by...u know. Comes out to $54.34 per week. MINUS 3% is $16 out of their salary.
Office Secretaries: $35 out of their $70 per week.
And B.O.E members in the middle of this making more than them anyway are trying to settle this by calling it an illegal strike and having teachers arrested. Not the brightest of bulbs on the tree.
*Edit* Chris:
You'll have to excuse Jon there for a second... he maybe a little slower in the field of math since he goes to those fine, fine places of eduction in Middletown. He somehow devided it way too many times, $30,000 devided by 184 equals their daily pay - which is about $163 per day. And then take that and multiply it by 5 to get per week - which is $815 per week. Again, so sorry for that slight mishap.
