Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Four mates, Soap(Dexter Fletcher), Eddie (Nick Moran), Bacon(Jason Statham) and Tom (Jason Flemyng) collect £25,000 each so Eddie can play in a high stakes poker tournament. Eddie is a very good poker player, but he plays against Hatchet Harry Lonsdale (P.H. Moriarty) local gangster and porn king. Eddie looses and has to make up the money in five days or else Harry will have his thugs like Barry the Baptist (Lenny McLean) cut off their fingers. When over hearing their neighbor Plank (Steve Sweeney) telling his gang's leader Dog (Frank Harper) that they were going to rob a marijuina grower named Winston (Steven Mackintosh) they decide to act first.
They buy some old shot guns off their partner in crime Nick the Greek (Stephen Marcus) to hold up the gangsters with. The pot growers turn out to be under the protection of a crazy Samoan gangster named Rory Breaker (Vas Blackwood). Hatchet Harry knew that Eddie's dad JD (Sting) owned a nightclub and he sent his hitman Big Chris (Vinnie Jones) and his son Little Chris (Peter McNicholl) to warn JD that if his son can't pay they will take the bar. Eddie's dad says that Eddie is on his own. It is now up to the guys to raise the money they owe Hatchet Harry in time, while trying to stay alive and avoiding the various crazy gangsters they have angered.
I think this movie is awesome! Its just like Guy Ritchie's other movie Snatch. Cockney slang is really hard to understand because they use rhyming words, but once you get used to it you really enjoy it for what it is. This movie is full of colorfull characters. All of them are gangsters with different nick names and they are famous for doing all kinds of crazy things. The pot growers are really funny for how stupid they are. The plot of the movie is full of twists and turns which defined Guy Richie's style at the time. This movie has some of the same actors from Snatch like Turkish, Bullet Tooth Tony, Darren and Brick Top. If you like black commedies, funny action movies, crazy english gangsters or the movie Snatch you should check this one out!
