Conn Smythe winner Olli Jokinen raises the Stanley Cup

April 29, 2007 - ATLANTA - After being rested for both games 3 and 4, Roberto Luongo returned to the Atlanta Thrashers' crease showing no signs of rust. The netminder stopped all 19 Ottawa Senator shots, as the Thrashers won the game 3 to 0, taking the series 4 games to 1, and in the process, winning their first M.H.L. Stanley Cup. The goals on this night may have come from Alex Ovechkin, David Vyborny, and Teemu Selanne, but along with Luongo, the team's true playoff hero was without a doubt Olli Jokinen, whose 13 goals and 29 points in 22 games led all skaters and earned him the Conn Smythe Trophy as most valuable player. Congratulations to Atlanta G.M. Mathieu Roberge, whose team beat the Nasvhille Predators in the first round, survived a scare in defeating the Detroit Red Wings in a tight 7 game series in round 2, swept the Colorado Avalanche in the conference finals, and then dispatched of the Ottawa Senators before their home crowd in the finals.
