Removing "Documents" From
The Startup Menu With
XP Pro

This works with XP Pro & maybe Windows 2000.

Click on Start/Run & type in Gpedit.msc

This takes you to the Group Policy window.

I had to remove "My Pictures" icon from Startup before "Documents" would disappear since "My Pictures" was in the slideout menu of "Documents".

I didn't have to remove "My Documents".
I suggest you don't either.

Removing the Documents link from the Start Menu doesn't stop stuff from being remembered.

You'll want to clear the list once & a while.

To clear it follow the instructions in the next screenshot:

Open the Logon/Autologon branch, enable the "Log on automatically at system startup" checkbox and fill in your User Name. Start, Run, control userpasswords2 Select the Users tab. Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer." Click OK. Enter the User Name (and Password if needed) for the account you want to log onto. Click OK.
