FINAL FANTASY VIII WALKTHROUGH

DISC THREE

Frames bugging you? Click here to view the full screen version.

When we last left our heroes, they had just overcome Seifer and Edea once again, only to discover that Rinoa is now in a comatose state! No one knows what's wrong with her and it doesn't look like there is anyway to awaken her from her coma. Meanwhile, the sorceress Edea, who is really Matron, the wife of Balamb Garden headmaster Cid Kramer and owner of the orphanage where Squall, Irvine, Zell, Quistis and Selphie grew up, has returned to her house on the Centra Continent. Could she hold the answers Squall so desperatly seeks?

--EDEA'S HOUSE--

Draw Points: Curaga (Bedroom)
Magazines: Timber Maniacs (Bedroom, Floor) Weapons Monthly July (Training Center, Ground)
Rare Cards: Leviathan (CC Magician Joker, Training Center) Carbuncle (CC Heart, Bridge) Gilgamesh (CC King, Dormitory) Edea (Edea, Edea's House)

Now that it's available, I highly recommend you do the CC group side-quest to take a small break and to get the hang of the Card Game, not to mention beef up your stock. If you're wondering if Gilgamesh is a GF you missed, don't panic. But if you want him, you need to have completed the ODIN'S QUEST side-quest by the end of Disc Three.

Anyway, exit the Garden and go to Edea's house. Talk to Edea and she'll tell you that she doesn't know what happened to Rinoa. Keep talking to her, then you'll automatically go back to Garden. Once you get there, go to the Infirmary and visit Rinoa.

--EDEA'S SeeD! --

Draw Points: Holy (Cabin)
Save Points: Deck (Hidden)
Rare Cards: Shiva (Zone, give him the GIRL NEXT DOOR magazine for free)
Magazines: Timber Maniacs (Bridge)

Go back to Edea's house and talk with Edea. She give you a cryptic location of the White SeeD ship and a letter.

Note: UNLIMITED GIL!!! If you sell Edea's letter, you get 125 Gil. Go back and talk to Edea and she'll scold you, then she'll fork over another letter. You can do this as many times as you want, so stock up while you can!!

I can't really describe where the White SeeD ship is, but it's almost a straight shot North of Edea's house. It's hidden among the Skeletal Finger looking islands. Keep in mind that it's fairly small.

When you get to the ship, go to the bridge and talk to Zone. He'll notice the issue of Girl Next Door if you have it. If not, go back to Timber and get it from the Timber Maniacs building. Give it to Zone for free and he'll give you a RENAME CARD and the SHIVA CARD. Not a bad deal.

Afterwards, go below deck and talk to the SeeD Captain. He'll tell you what happened to Ellone. Afterwards, go back to Garden and go to Fisherman's Horizon.

--THE GREAT SALT LAKE--

Enemies: Vysage Lefty Righty Abadon (Boss)
Draw Points: Meteor (High Ledge--Hidden) Thundaga (Monster Skull)
Save Points: Cliff (To the right of the Boss)

No, Squall isn't going to Utah.

Enter the Great Salt Lake by walking up to the big lake. Walk around and you'll eventually wind up fighting Abadon.

ABADON (UNDEAD MONSTER)

HP: 510~17,010

WEAK VS. FIRE AND HOLY

DROP ITEM: FLARE STONE

MUG ITEM: POWER WRIST

DRAW MAGIC: CURAGA, ESUNA, DISPEL, FLARE

0 EXP, 40 AP

Remember fighting Gerogero on Disc 1? Well, do the same thing here. Use an X-Potion, Elixir, or Phoenix Down on it. You could also cast Life, Full-Life, or use the Revive ability. Instant death.

--ESTHAR--

Enemies: SAM08G Galbadian Soldier Elite Soldier GIM52A (Laguna) Esthar Soldier Gesper Elastoid
Draw Points: Death (Outside Pandora Lab) Double (Dr. Odine's Lab) Flare (Dr. Odine's Lobby) Blizzard (Pres. Palace Area) Tornado (Shopping Mall) Curaga (Inner Skyway Area) Quake (Dr. Odine's Lab)
Save Points: Outside Pandora Lab Dr. Odine's Lab (Hidden) Outside and to the Right of Pres. Palace (Hidden) Near Airstation
Magazines Weapons Monthly 1st Issue (floor, Pandora Lab in past) Pet Pals Vol. 5 (Esthar Pet Store) Pet Pals Vol. 6 (Esthar Pet Store) Occult Fan IV (Presidental Secretary, Pres. Residence) Combat King 004 (Esthar Soldier, Middle of City)
Rare Cards Ward (Dr. Odine)

Afterwards, walk past the boss and inspect the shimmering background. You'll find what you're looking for, when all of the sudden…

--BACK TO THE PRESENT--

When you wake up, you'll be taken to the Presidential Palace. Leave Rinoa with Odine and explore the city. Be sure to check out the shopping center. Not only do you get Pet Pals Vols. 5 and 6 from the Pet Store, but the Stores tend to give you free items! Also, if you have GF Tonberry, you can get all issues of Weapons Monthly (including issue 1) and Combat King if you have the familiar ability. But be warned about buying the 1st issue of Weapons Monthly: it costs 250000 Gil! You will also be able to buy Elixir, and Mega Phoenix's from Johnny's Shop, but it opens very rarely. Be sure to use it when you do.

Note: Remember…3 Mega Phoenix's will refine into 1 Phoenix Pinion if you have the Tool-RF Ability. You'll want at least two of these. Get them while you can, because they are very hard to come by.

Also, you may want to remodel everyone's weapons. You definently need Squall and Rinoa's weapons to be as strong as possible, because they'll need them for the upcoming battle.

At Lunar Gate, take the WEAKEST character with you to the Lunar Base. Or the strongest if you want the weaker character to catch up. Afterwards, the Lunatic Pandora will come to Esthar!

Note: Again, most people will tell you that you MUST carry Edea with you. The first time I played through, I could leave Edea at the Lunar Gate, but haven't been able to since. Someone tell me if they figure this out!

If you can't catch Lunatic Pandora, don't worry. Even if you miss it, the game will keep playing. If you do catch it, you can't avoid getting thrown out by the Mobile Type 8, so don't think you did anything wrong.

--SPACE CASE--

Draw Points: Meteor (Ellone's Room) Meltdown (next to escape pod)
Save Points: Med Lab Next to Escape Pod
Rare Cards: Laguna (Ellone) Alexander (Piet)

Not much to do here. Just do as everyone says.

While making your daring rescue in space, worry about keeping Rinoa centered. If the crap really hits the fan, press triangle to use your booster fuel. But you have very little fuel, so use it sparingly. If you fail, you'll be able to restart the game or try again.

--RAGNAROK--

Enemies: Propagators
Draw Points: Life (Catwalk) Cura (Aisle) Full-Life (downstairs corridor, hidden)
Save Points: Entrance (Air Room) Hangar

Hope you upgraded your weapons like I suggested…

Though they aren't boss battles, you'll want a little info on the Propagators. Here ya go:

PROPAGATOR

HP: 1100~5200

And that's about it. Just so you know, this is tough if you haven't remodeled your weapons. I was stuck here for a couple weeks because I still had everyone's original weapons. Not very easy to do, but there is a strategy. If that happens, cast strong magic like Ultima, then finish them off with a mid-level magic. Don't bother with GF's: they'll be killed before the battles over.

To kill the Propagators, you have to kill them in a specific order. If you don't kill them in matching pairs, they will be revived by the other Propagator. This is no easy task, but here's a little help on how to kill them.

      1. Kill the first Propagator you saw, which is purple.
      2. Run through the big doorway and you'll see a Red Propagator. Exit through the door on the left wall before it can attack you. There you'll find another Purple Propagator. Kill it.
      3. Go back and kill the Red Propagator.
      4. Head back to the catwalk to find another Red Propagator. Kill it.
      5. Go back to the Air Room and kill the Yellow Propagator. You may choose to use the Save Point afterwards.
      6. Go back to where you killed the first Red Propagator and exit through the other door. Go through the door to the left of the Green Propagator. ( Don't worry…the Green Propagator won't attack until you provoke it.) Inside, the second Yellow Propagator will attack you. Kill it.
      7. Go back to the Green Propagator and provoke it.
      8. Go back to where you killed the first Purple Propagator and enter the small door. Inside you'll find the second Green Propagator. Kill it to clear the Raganarok of all Propagators'. Afterwards, be sure to use the Save Point in the Hangar.

Congratulations! You cleared the Ragnarok! Go back to the Elevator Platform where you killed the first Green Propagator and go up to begin a fairly long sequence that takes you back home.

--SORCERESS MEMORIAL / EDEA'S HOUSE / RETURN TO ESTHAR--

Enemies: Turtapod (Memorial, Esthar) Imp (Esthar) Torama (Esthar) Iron Giant (Esthar)
Draw Points: Stop (Memorial Steps)
Rare Cards: Squall (Laguna)

After the Esthar Guards come and escort Rinoa away, go back in the Ragnarok and walk to the room to the left of the elevator. Whoever followed you to Lunar Base will come in, followed by the rest of the team. Afterwards, head back to the cockpit. Fly the Ragnarok to the Sorceress Memorial.

Note: The Ragnarok has autopilot! Press select until the full screen world map shows up, then select where you want to go using the hand. Press X and select YES to confirm where you want to go. If you want to switch from auto to manual during mid-flight, press triangle.

Go in the Sorceress Memorial to save Rinoa. You'll meet some resistance on your way out, but a mysterious stranger will stop them…someone Squall recognizes.

After going back to the Ragnarok, Rinoa will say that she wants to go to Edea's House. Once you get there, follow Angelo to start another sequence. From there fly back to Esthar.

Note: Be sure to check your party immediately after returning to Esthar. The city is now crawling with monsters, so you will definantly want to switch Junctions. Also, make sure Angelo is learning a new trick, since Rinoa hasn't been with your party for a while. You also need to keep an eye on her, since she's probably a few levels behind everyone.

Also, Rinoa has a new Limit Break, Angel Wing. It's the same as the "Berserk" status effect, except Rinoa will use magic instead of physical attacks. Her magic power is increased and the spells aren't drawn out of her stock. Unfortunately, you lose control of Rinoa for the remainder of the battle, even if she is K.O.'d.

Go to the Presidential Palace and meet the President. Come on, admit it…you knew it was going to be him.

After the President explains the situation, you may not want to go on with the story right away. Tell him to let you out. If you have any side quests you want to complete, DO THEM NOW! Once you have completed Disc Three, you cannot go back into any cities. This is a good time to go get the Tonberry and Doomtrain GF's, seeing as how they will let you access Item Shops and Junk Shops from the Menu Screen.

When you're all set, go back to Esthar and the Presidental Palace. Make sure your Junctions are good ones…some of the upcoming battles can be tough!

NOTE: DO NOT go to the Lunatic Pandora right away. You will first want to go around the world map and get EVERYTHING: ultimate weapons, rare cards, etc. Once this disc is over, you will NOT be able to return to any towns, except for the Centra Ruins and Tear's Point.

--LUNATIC PANDORA--

Enemies: Behemoth Elnoyle Imp Iron Giant Torama Fujin (Boss) Raijin (Boss) Mobile Type 8 (Boss) Seifer (Boss)
Items: LuvLuv G (Dead End Tunnel) Spd-J Scroll (Crystal Halls) Combat King 005 (Crystal Halls, in panel) Phoenix Pinion (Crystal Halls, in panel) Power Generator (Crystal Halls, in panel)
Draw Points: Curaga (Elevator, lobby) Meteor

(Staircase)
Holy (Crystal Halls) Silence (Crystal Halls-Hidden) Ultima (Crystal Halls-Hidden) Confuse (Crystal Halls)
Save Points: Near Entrance

Note: All Items and the two hidden draw points CANNOT be accessed if you did not find the two old keys during the 2nd Laguna Flashback sequence during Disc 1, or if you did not activate the Blue Switch before the Red Switch during the same Flashback.

Before you go in to the Lunatic Pandora, make sure you are you don't have Wind or Thunder magic junctioned to your Elem-Atk, and you may want as much Bio junctioned as possible. Now you're ready for your first boss fight, against Raijin and Fujin.

FUJIN

HP: 5300~18,200

WEAK VS POISON, ABSORBS WIND

DROP ITEM: MEGALIXIR

MUG ITEM: MEGALIXIR

DRAW MAGIC: AERO, CURAGA, FULL-LIFE, TORNADO

0 EXP, 8 AP

RAIJIN

HP: 5400~22,600

WEAK VS ICE AND POISON, ABSORBS THUNDER

DROP ITEM: STR UP

MUG ITEM: POWER WRIST

DRAW MAGIC: THUNDARA, THUNDAGA, SHELL, PROTECT

0 EXP, 12 AP

Again?! Well, this battle isn't too tough. If you have GF Doomtrain, use it. Its negative status effects will leave Fujin and Raijin nearly paralyzed for the entire battle. After that, use any GF's except for Quezacotl and Pandemona, because they will heal Raijin and Fujin.

Also, you want to take out Fujin first. Not only does she cast a lot of support magic, she has a new attack, Sai, which drops every one in your party down to 1 HP.

After defeating the two, there really isn't much you can do. Just go around collecting all the stuff you can.

Note: All monsters in the Lunatic Pandora are Level 1. This means you can use Doomtrain to paralyze your opponent, then draw magic from them. You'll definantly want to find a Behemoth so you can get 100 Regens and 100 Tornadoes.

Afterwards, you'll find a save point close to where you ran into Mobile Type 8 the first time. Run into the room. It's time to fight Mobile Type 8…and it is not a real easy task.

MOBILE TYPE 8 (FLYING MONSTER)

HP: 30,400~46,400

WEAK VS THUNDER

DROP ITEM: LASER CANNON

MUG ITEM: LASER CANNON

DRAW MAGIC: FIRAGA, THUNDAGA, BLIZZAGA, FLARE

0 EXP, 40 AP

MOBILE TYPE 8 (LEFT PROBE)

HP: 5100~9100

CANNOT BE DAMAGED!

DROP ITEM: N/A

MUG ITEM: VIT UP

DRAW MAGIC: CURAGA, ESUNA

0 EXP, 0 AP

MOBILE TYPE 8 (RIGHT PROBE

HP: 5100~9100

CANNOT BE DAMAGED!

DROP ITEM: N/A

MUG ITEM: STR UP

DRAW MAGIC: FIRAGA, THUNDAGA, BLIZZAGA

0 EXP, 0 AP

Quite simply put, an unprepared party is screwed. If you have Quezacotl junctioned, use it. Also you can use Limit Breaks while you're critical, but it's a bit risky.

Also, once the two probes separate, it will use its Corona attack, which will drain everyone to 1 HP. Quickly heal everyone, because Mobile Type 8 is preparing to use it's follow up attack, Medigo Flame, which can cause up to 2000 points damage.

Also, you cannot damage the Left and Right Probes, so don't bother attacking them. Just focus on the main body.

Afterwards, prepare for the final battle of Disc Three…

SEIFER

HP: 3700~34,500

WEAK VS POISON

DROP ITEM: HERO, HOLY WAR

MUG ITEM: HERO, HOLY WAR

DRAW MAGIC: FIRAGA, THUNDAGA, BLIZZAGA, AURA

0 EXP, 40 AP

For the 4th time, you get to battle Seifer!

If you took the time to get Odin, he will appear before this battle. Don’t get your hopes up though! Seifer's got a surprise for the Semi-GF, and Odin will be defeated. After a few moments, a new Semi-GF (Gilgamesh) will appear and take up where Odin left off, finishing the battle.

In between this time, you need to draw the AURA spell from Seifer. This allows a character to get their limit breaks at any time while it's active, no matter what they're HP.

If you didn't get Odin, don’t worry. Seifer isn't that hard of a battle. If you have Squall's Lionheart weapon, this is really easy. Just cast Aura on Squall. Hopefully, he'll use the Lion Heart Limit Break. That should pretty much end the battle before it starts.

Congratulations, you're through with Disc Three. Sit back and get ready…the hardest battle is just ahead.
