Move 226: Fighting Topknots in the Tunnels
Tunnels--Midmorning-ish, Day 10Arachne and Azrun kept up with burning the trolls as they dropped.
Daelen stabbed the troll who had disarmed him while Aloysius hit it with another magic missile spell. Between the two of them, they took the troll down. Jana manuevered around to attack the unoccupied troll, which chased after Daelen. That troll hit Daelen with a claw followed with a bite, causing him to collapse to the tunnel floor. It turned on Jana then, hitting her with its other claw. She retaliated by cutting through its green flesh with her sword.
Olaf hit the troll facing him and Blacky with his blade of flame. The troll took a claw to the priest then turned on the badly wounded Blacky, sending him toppling to the tumble floor too.
Echo sprayed the troll coming after her with another fan of flame. Renn's sword blow finished it off; the one-armed troll, already burning, fell.
"Oh no you don't," Renn said fiercely as he saw Daelen and Blacky both fall to the ground. Jumping past the one armed-on fire-now dead troll, Renn sheathed his blade and began to chant.
Jana flinched as the troll's claws cut into her. She swung her sword, smiling as it made contact. She set her shield and pressed her attack.
Olaf slashed again at the troll, "Not yet, by Tyr!"
Azrun looked down to Arachne, "I think you need to help Renn, right now. I'll continue burning the trolls as they fall." With that he began to chant and pointed a finger at the troll on Jana.
Redirecting his attention to the back of the tunnel, Aloysius cast another spell.
"Uh huh." Arachne kept her burning torch in one hand while making for the fallen. Since Renn had the same goal and was likely moving faster, she let him go to whichever of Blacky or Daelen he preferred, and then she knelt by the other.
Echo pulled a dagger and went after the still moving troll facing Olaf.
Aloysius webbed up the tunnel behind the fight taking place.
Jana and her troll continued to face off. Azrun hit it with a couple of magic missiles while the troll and the fighter exchanged sword blows, claw rakes, and extremely nasty bites. Jana came out the winner, but not without taking some significant wounds before the troll fell.
Renn picked his way through the battle to get to Blacky, who looked a bit worse than Daelen. He called on Corellon's healing, supernaturally staunching the flow of blood coming from the fighter's wounds.
Arachne, holding a torch between her and Jana's troll fight, tried to stabilize Daelen with her different type of healing. At first, he didn't seem to improve much. After a little more time, some of his wounds stopped bleeding as well, leaving him in little danger of imminent death.
Olaf and Echo took on the final troll. Echo stabbed it with her dagger. The troll missed Olaf with its claw attacks, but turned its bite on Echo, ripping a gash in her shoulder. About the time that the troll facing Jana fell, Olaf finished off the final troll with his flame blade.
Azrun took the torch from Arachne and caught the remaining trolls on fire. The first fires had burned down now, but the new ones blazed brightly, stinking up the tunnel with their foul smoke.
Aloysius lowered himself to the ground as soon as the last troll was ignited. He huried forward to see how the wounded were doing.
"Janathell? Only one incantation remaining have I. What would you like for me to do? The webs should stay up for a little less than half an hour, assuming more trolls don't come and find a way to remove them."
"I think we better fall back some, so Blacky and Daelen can rest," Echo said. "Are we going to be able to move them?" she asked, looking at Jana.
