How to play VideoCD
on a Dreamcast console
Instructions how to play a VCD on
a Dreamcast using the GypPlay - Full Release:
- Download the GypPlay - Executable
Only archive and extract it to a temporary directory.
- Copy the VCD MPEG-1 movies to the
temporary directory (see the extensions below).
- Burn the contents of the temporary
directory to a CD-R - ISO Level 2, Mode 1 (CDROM only,
not XA), Joliet filesystem.
- Bootup the UTOPIA Boot-CD, swap
for the CD-R and play the movie!
Instructions how to play a VCD on
a Dreamcast using only the GypPlay - Executable:
- Get the Midway Classics CD-Image
(WinCE Game).
- Use IsoBuster to extract
all files from the CD-Image to a temporary directory.
- Download the GypPlay - Executable
Only archive.
- Extract GypPlay from it's archive
and rename it to: MIDWAY_1.EXE
- Replace the original MIDWAY_1.EXE
with the new one.
- Copy the VCD MPEG-1 movies to the
temporary directory (see the extensions below).
- Burn the contents of the temporary
directory to a CD-R - ISO Level 2, Mode 1 (CDROM only,
not XA), Joliet filesystem.
- Bootup the UTOPIA Boot-CD, swap
for the CD-R and play the movie!
GypPlay automatically searches
the CD (including in subdirectories) for any file with the .MPG,
.MPEG or .AVI extension and plays them one after each
other.
GypPlay Movie extensions:
.mpg (MPEG-1 only)
.mpeg (MPEG-1 only)
.dat (MPEG-1 only)
.avi (no odd codecs!)
.m1v (MPEG-1 video, no audio)
.asf (no odd codecs! MPEG-4/DivX is NOT supported!)
.sfd (v1.01 SFD format works, but no audio. Newer SFDs
not supported.)
GypPlay Features:
- Vary Movie Speed:
Press FForward/Rewind/Pause + Analog Stick
- Skip Movie: Press FForward+Rewind
