A very powerful mage from a magical world, he’s about 1000 years old - but doesn’t remember anything much past the first visit to the tavern. His main goal is to find out what all of the brief and frustrating flashes of memories are, as well as the rest of the past. To record them, he carries a book that any flash is immediately drawn in for future reference and thought.
At the height of his power back then, he tried a spell to force the Forces of Light and Dark to make him immortal. It partly worked, as immortality was given, but not in the expected way. Since, several lives have been lived, as death is still possible...just not permanent as a few day later he again walks the world. However, each time the memories of the previous life are gone...in addition, during each life he’s either a force for great good or great evil. To make it harder to identify him during the ages, many faces were used, though the eyes and rest of the body have stayed the same. During the last few incarnations, however, the face has been obscurred in shadows that constantly shift.
