Sayings I like

Over the years, I've read a ~lot~ of books, articles, comics, etc. as well as seeing tons of movies and TV. This particular branch of the web-site is dedicated to some of my favourite sayings from all those things and more, and where I can I'll try and quote where the things came from. *smiles* Including some of my own. Hope you enjoy.

Personal Quotes

*Smiles softly* Here's something I read recently and find it to be very true:

"For of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: It might have been."

Handy Guide to Modern Science:

1. If it is green or it wiggles, it's biology.
2. If it stinks, it's chemistry.
3. If it doesn't work, it's physics.

1 Yes, I know this isn't the proper quote from the poem, it's from "Thoughts for the day" that popped up on our highschool computers when we logged in. So are any following "Murphy's Military Laws" and a few others - like all of those not in quotes.

Star Wars Quotes

"Which is the more foolish: The fool, or the fool that follows him?" Star Wars: A New Hope.

"When 900 you reach, look as good you will not." Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.

"Morning, Lt. Commander"
"Commander."
"Sleep well?"
"Sleeping isn't the problem. Waking up, that is the problem. I've always had a hard time getting up when it's dark outside."
"But it's always dark in space."
"I know...I know."
- Conversation between Susan Ivanova and Commander Jeffrey Sinclair. Babylon 5

"I have been studying Human writing recently, and perhaps they are far more intelligent than we thought." G'Kar to his aid Na'Toth, before going on to read the following...

..."Maybe, but God was there first and He didn't need solar batteries and fusion reactors to do it."
"Perhaps, prehaps not. It is within that ambiguity that my Brothers and I exist. We are dreamers, shapers, singers, makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and evocations of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things."
"Such as?"
"The True Secrets, the important things. Fourteen words to make someone fall in love with you forever, seven words to make them go without pain. How to say good-bye to a friend who is dying. How to be poor, how to be rich. How to rediscover dreams when the world has stolen them from you. That is why we are going away, to preserve that knowledge." Captain John Sheridan speaking with the Technomage leader Elric, Babylon 5

"Weep for the future, Na'Toth. Weep for us all." G'Kar, Babylon 5.

"Tradition"

"They've taken up firing positions all around us."
