This site has been prepared by the Kosciusko Olympic Lobby Group. We are a group of dedicated winter sports enthusiasts who are trying to lobby the NSW Government, Snowy River Shire Council and the Australian Olympic Committee to support our plan for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games

Our vision is for a Winter Olympic Games in a country who many see as a poor winter sports nation. The Snowy Mountains is a rich part of Australia's history, and we believe this bid will show the world that we can host winter sporting competitions.

Australia holds a special affection to the Olympic movement. We are one of only three nations to compete in every summer games. We have competed in the winter tournament as a nation since 1936 - missing only four games.

With proper infrastructure and the "can do" persona of all Australians, Kosciusko can become a reality.

The Sydney 2000 preparations have been the most advanced in the history of the movement. The Snowy River Hydroelectric scheme was the largest capital works project in Australia's history and for that era. The main argument against us is the lack of venues that already exist. However, with the planning that was demonstrated for the Sydney Olympic Games, these should be treated as concerns - not obstacles.
