SIERRA'S FAVORITE SPIN: This is an animated photo of Sasha Cohen doing a camel spin. There's a sense of flying and soaring like an eagle with this spin. Sierra believes that she can fly and soar like an eagle to accomplish whatever goal is put before her. With a camel spin, the skater puts his or her body into the general shape of the letter “T”. One leg is skating; the other is extended behind the skater, parallel to the ice. The upper body leans forward, making a straight line with the freeleg. |
SIERRA'S FAVORITE JUMP: This is an animated photo of Tara Lipinski doing a Triple Toe Loop. This is one of Sierra's favorite jumps. So far, she's only learned a single Toe Loop. However, Sierra loves landing this jump because it gives her a great sense of accomplishment. A single Toe-Loop is a jump in which you take off backwards off of your outside edge and vault yourself into the air by digging into the ice with the toepick; one rotation, landing backward, one foot. The number of rotations that is done in the air before landing, determines the type of jump. For example, rotating twice in the air becomes a double Toe-Loop. Similarly, Tara is illustrating the Triple Toe-Loop because she rotates three times. Site Designed by: One Proud Mom! |
