Jimmy Page - Back to The Band
Jimmy Page 's incredible career spans four decades, appearing on an
innumerable list of recordings. Best known for his trademark Les Pauls, a double guitar
of sorts, his contributions to
rock
and the world of music are
nearly unmatched. His first experience as a musician came when his family received
a small Spanish guitar, which Jimmy played with to no end. Soon after, Page
became entranced with rock and roll, and inspired by Elvis Presley, he became
fixed upon becoming a legend himself.
In the early sixties, he performed and recorded with several bands including Carter Lewis & the Southerners and Neil Christian & the Crusaders. His first success, however, didn't come until 1963 when he performed "Diamonds" by Jet Harris & Tony Meehan on guitar.
In response to his quick success and surprising outcome, the 19-year-old Page wrote a letter stating his disbelief in how far he had come. Soon after, Page became one of the hottest session guitarists in the U.K., turning down an offer to join the Yardbirds after Clapton left. Later, he did join the Yardbirds and formed a super guitar team with Jeff Beck. The formation of Led Zeppelin in the summer of 1968 would bring unparalleled success. Through Zeppelin, Page found his niche, and soon became prolific at it. The magic that he and Led Zeppelin would bring to the world is still reverberating through the music of today.
In all that Page accomplished, his joining with Led Zeppelin illustrated his love for music, mostly because Zeppelin was doomed to fail since they has assembled in less than a week. Page deserves one word for his work with Zeppelin and the guitar: extraordinary.
