Crap boobs crap
Mood:
spacey
Now Playing: Stuart (Look what I can do!)
Three new This Book Will Change Andy's Life entries... Say Nothing Day, Eat & Run Day, and Church Day. Hey, here's my yearly round of Grammy predictions. Dig that old-school AO design! And check out those old-school AO departments at the top that still work... the Music Archives! The Journalism Archives! Linkage! Hey, there's the link to my gal Sol's page... missed the girl and her wacky adventures around the world! Okay, that's all I've got. Noooo motivation for anything else on the AO tonight.
Andy Recommendations, Volume Four (I think)
Now Playing: 'CTMA', again
Here's another set of songs I can't get enough of. Get your hands on 'em, 'cause I highly recommend them. Puddle of Mudd division: Spin You Around - Great, great song. While I still kinda think of Puddle of Mudd as "just another of the soundalike rock bands of today" though cherish their music a little more after seeing it live, this song is better than most of what's on rock radio these days. Seriously. Give it a spin. Great sound. She Hates Me and Blurry - I always kinda liked "She Hates Me." I despised "Blurry" for the longest time, because I couldn't escape it on the radio. Now it's a lot more tolerable. Control - Best song line for 2004, thus far: "I love the way you look at me / I love the way you smack my ass." Non-Puddle of Mudd division: Nicotine & Gravy by Beck - This is from my favorite Beck album, which is totally not the favorite Beck album of most people. It's just such a different, funky, fun sound. This was one of those songs used on a "relationship mix CD" back in the day. It's stuck with me ever since, years later. Peanuts Theme by Dave Matthews Band - Yeah, basically just DMB doing the theme during a sound check and one of their many rabid fans who think they should record every moment of everything taped it and put it online. Why not. Cowboy Take Me Away by Dixie Chicks - I reaquired the video for this song the other day, and it's dreamy. Let me tell ya, I could take the shots of Nat alone looking up at tne camera and see no other shots from Chicks videos and be happy. And it's a great song, too. Dreaming by Smashing Pumpkins - Every now and then I reenter the "liking the occasional bit of the Pumpkins" mode. This song reentered me into that phase again, and gave me one of the two away messages I use on AIM when I'm sleeping. Rascal King by Mighty Mighty Bosstones - I've always liked 'em. Sunrise by Norah Jones - Yum. I mean the song, of course. :) Top of the World by Patty Griffin - I've listened to almost nothing but the Chicks' haunting version of "TOTW." It's pretty much one of my favorites of all time. And here's the original. While I don't like Patty's voice as much as Natalie's, it is still awesome. If you haven't heard the Chicks version, hear it. I doubt you'll be disappointed. You Don't and Why Should I Care by Sara Evans - I can turn the "you" into "I" in "Why Should I Care" and almost perfectly have a song about past situations from years back. And "You Don't", too. Sara's voice amazes me, too. Bottom of the Barrel by Smile Empty Soul - See also: the concert review. I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness - I really, really didn't want to like this song. I'm so tired of seeing the lead singer in magazines. Then I heard the song. Okay, I like it. A lot. Argh.

Tell me something good
Mood:
happy
Now Playing: "Tell Me Something Good" (live) - Dave & Friends
New for This Book Will Change Andy's Life, Control Your Dreams Day, Paranormal Day, Dictator Day, and Little Tasks Day! Upcoming: Say Nothing Day, Eat and Run Day, Church Day, Swedish Day, and Practical Joke Day! Stay tuned! So yeah, Bush has pretty much said now that there are no weapons of mass destruction. Ah well, too late... no harm done, right? On the Presidential note, click here for a Presidential matcher... enter in how you feel about issues and it'll tell you who your candidate is. I matched up 100% with Kucinich, with Al Sharpton coming in second with 89% (he was James Brown's manager, which is what I look for in a candidate). Last place? Bush, with 14%. Surprise! The second lowest wasn't all that low, Edwards with 74%. And continuing to tie in paragraph after paragraph, the Hardest Working Man in Showbiz, at age 70, wants to divorce his wife, at age 33. And I thought I got myself into age gaps... If I never, ever hear about Janet Jackson again, I'll be okay. And I kinda like her! For those of you with cats, their fumes can be poisonous. Not much feedback on the concert review yet... bring it on!

'Cause I'm a fool for all I've said
Mood:

Now Playing: 'She Hates Me'

That's right. And there's more where that came from, and a nice review, right here.
Enjoy!
In one of those things that kinda excites me but also scares me because of who else it involves, Dave Matthews will join Sting, Vince Gill, and freakin' Pharrell Williams (the guy from the Neptunes) for a performance at the Grammys. They'll be paying tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Sullivan show extravaganzas. Bigger update tomorrow... some of us have work in just a few hours. Concert shortform review if nothing else, I hope...

Nauru!
Mood:
hungry
The This Book Will Change Andy's Life blog has been updated with Day Thirty (Ignore Today Day) and Day Thirty-One (Nauru Appreciation Day). I've got more facts on Nauru, pictured to the right, than you can shake a stick at! I also make fun of Brunswick, which is worth the price of admission alone. You know what's big nowadays? Fish piercing. You know, I would think that'd be pretty tramatic for fish with the whole fear of hooks thing and all, but that fish sure does have a pierced lip. You know, people seriously have waaaay too much time on their hands. Augusta has postponed its James Brown festival and statue unveiling, which is a shame. You know if they ever go through with it, I'm getting a picture with the Godfather of Soul statue. Noooo, NOT BARRY MANILOW! (In all seriousness, I hope the guy gets feeling better.) You know, I was just annoyed by the Left Behind books. Now, after reading the article on author Tim LaHaye in the current Rolling Stone, I am majorly scared by both a large amount of our bookstore shoppers and - surprise! - the people running the country. Due to my lack of cable, I never get to see the great Daily Show with Jon Stewart anymore, which is a better source of news than most news broadcasts. I do watch everything posted on a daily basis on the website, though. I see so much of my sense of humor in the DS that it scares me (I'm apparently easily scared today). I would link you to certain ones, but they're literally all hilarious. Check the link above for the best thing going today. I like Alex Trebek. I really do. But with all the ruckus from his recent wreck, all I hear in my head is the voice of Sean Connery talking about his mother. "Suck on it Trebek!" "Well that's the sound your mother made last night!" No, it's The Pen is Mightier! Ah, good times. I'll be back hopefully tomorrow with an update on "Control Your Dreams Day," and see if my dreams really can involve a hedgehog, a midget, and a plane. Yeah, now you're intrigued. And I need to get back on the crap thing, too.

And it was called yellow
Mood:
d'oh
Now Playing: No, not Tom Jones... not at all...
Edit: I lied. Here's the This Book Will Change Andy's Life entries for yesterday and today. Alright! News and stuff! No new "Book" or "Crap" entries yet. Maybe tonight, since I don't have to wake up before 8 a.m. for the first time in over a week tomorrow. But I have linkage! The inventor of Ctrl+Alt+Del, one of my favorite combos, is retiring. I have most recently used said combo to throw the bookstore's entire line of registers offline. Breakdancin' for the Pope... I've seen it all. Why, James, why? At least it's not as bad as Nick Nolte's mugshot... Today's George is smart comment: "The illiteracy level of our children are appalling." Thank you, President. The Beatles are on the cover of the new Rolling Stone. Yay Beatles! I kinda miss the Howard Dean cover though, because the Beatles just don't get that speech of his in my head like he did (yeeaaaaah!). There better not be anybody trying to enjoy themself at the Puddle o' Mudd concert Tuesday night! Anthony, Emma, and Ryan have a blog site called This Blog Will Change Your Life. It's a phenomenon! For those of you who care at all about the DMB news update, DMB is up for a Jammy, Boyd Tinsley endorses and will be performing (with Hootie & the Blowfish???) for John Edwards, and DMB will be receiving the NAACP distinguished Chairman's award. Yay! That is all, I think. Back tonight with either more crap or more Book entries.

Days 20 to 27 of This Book Will Change Andy's Life are up! Yay me! New crap... not so up. And won't be until at least Thursday night, at the earliest. So sue me. Wait, don't. I noticed today, while watching the DXC video for "Goodbye Earl," that there is a very large amount of cowbell in that song. It could always use more, though.
