David on fatherhood
"When Tea first got pregnant, I was like, 'Thank God it's nine months,I can prepare.' Now I'm like, 'OK, let's go, let's get it on! I mean, I'm not ready. But I'm ready....I think relaxing into parenthood is the toughest thing. Overcoming fear [about] keeping the child safe and living with the constant anxiety. 'Is the baby OK? Is it eating pennies? Is it going to fall in the swimming pool?' So it seems like you need 24-hour vigilance, and obviously that's not the case...
One of the scary things is that, when you're a kid, you look at your dad as the man who has no fear. When you're an adult, you realize your father had fear, and that you have it, too."
When Duchovny is asked where he thinks he will be 10 years from now, the answer has
nothing to do with acting or directing:
"I'll be playing a game of catch with my son," he says, smiling, then quickly adds: "Or my
daughter-- she can play sports, too. That's what I'll be
doing, playing a game of catch."

On April 26, two days after Leoni, 33, gave birth in L.A. to their first child, reportedly
named Madelaine West Duchovny, the actor had this to say: "Tea and I are very ecstactic.
We're going to be raising her as a Knicks fan."

On filming Return To Me just after daughter Madelaine was born:
"Because of the baby, I wasn't getting a whole lot of sleep. Once, I woke up in the middle of the night and I had forgotten the floor plan of the hotel room and I walked into a corner of the wall. I saw stars. It was dark, and all of a sudden I had this amazing light show."

David on the set of Return to Me
Is [the baby] a month old yet? Almost.
What is it like? Is it sad to be here? It is when I think about it. It's sometimes sad that I can't be with them right now.
They're here now. They're in Chicago with me, so I go home and I see them. I tell myself that it's okay. At this point, the baby doesn't even know I exist, really. It's only about the nipple... and it's not my nipple, it's her nipple.
That's fabulous that they got to come with you! Oh, yes. I only had to spend six days apart from them. That was hard, especially at
that point. The baby was only five days old and I had to leave them. That was terrible.
