"Wonder No More"

cji
3/l6/99

Verse 1
********

Can you hear me cry?
If I screamed loud enough
when I awake at night
would you awaken
and wonder at my fright?

Verse 2
********

Can you feel the pain I feel?
Can you possibly know
how each hour
makes the darkness grow?

Verse 3
********

Once I heard you calling,
and I wondered how I knew
the pain and terror
that within you grew.

Verse 4
********

Now I wonder softly
as my own terror begins
will you be there
as I was for you dear friend?

Verse 5
********

The summer zephyr's whispers
to me now to wonder not
as you are always there;
at the front door,
on the phone,
with a flower and baby ruth,
to offer me beauty
and refreshment too.

Verse 6
********

It is not the darkness
that gets darker
it is that the shadows
disappear when we learn
our spiritual eyes to open
and make ourselves
understand the whiteness
of the purity of God;
while all else
is in the blackness
of gray to black.

Verse 7
********

So wonder no more
my friend as gently
I tuck the covers in
and sing hymns,
read to you till
sleep will come
in the darkness
of your room.

Verse 8
********

Your screams awaken me
thus when you feel
the small zephyr
upon your forehead
the spirit will whisper so;
sleep my child
my angels are guarding
your open soul;
and now you've
learned to know
you need
to wonder no more.cji
