"To be a Teacher"

Verse 1

Remember you are
where they are coming;
but you meet them
where they now are.

Verse 2
********

For students come
to be taught not forgot.
They come to you,
but come as who
they already are.

Verse 3
********

You must be prepared
to carry them beyond
where you are now;
to where they have
to journey in life.

 Verse 4
********

A teacher is not
an idle calling;
for though the power
is yours to control
the lessons taught
are not for you,
but for the students
to grow into more.

Verse 5

Thus they come into
your environment now.
It as individuals they are;
for never will one be
like another, unless
we fail to be all
that we are suppose
to be in our role
as teachers just now.
