"Part IV - To Be a Knight"

cji
3/l7/99

Verse 1
********

In recent weeks and months the reason
for this poem as I've met many such
who know not that they are such.

Verse 2
********

One was dying yet taught me to the end
even to write a letter extending his life
a couple more hours to let me know a friend.

Verse 3
********

Another two have put together to show
some poems which now more the world
can see and know of how this child grows.

Verse 4
********

Two have found each other in common bound
one to remind me of others and duty sworn
the other that to be obedient is not always a sacrifice.

Verse 5
********

One sits lonely at home but great deeds has done
to take the risk of loving and trusting beyond
the bounds lived and now to freely breathe again.

Verse 6
********

However the one who most examples this poem
on the traits of being a knight has loved a little child
from out of her shell into a young lady to now be found.

Verse 7
********

We see the commonness of being a knight in this world
for their is not glory or high rank to be sought to gain;
only the love of God and prompting's of the spirit to obey.

Verse 8
********

So look about yourself today and see who are your knights
in these the last days of a mortal probation on this Earth,
some may never know you know and that is okay too.

Verse 9
********

Yet remember you are never alone in this quest of life
for each somewhere has a knight to serve if they obey;
some are bright and shinny while others old and rusty.

Verse 10
********

Thus this is all I have to say about the fellow knights
who are hard to find and share a short prayer to honor
the one we serve both before, now and forever our God.
