Verse 1

Why do we call it
the Lord's day now
as man has taken
and opened it anew
to the stores and bars
for football and sports
yet still we call it
the Lord's day, why?

Verse 2

It was taken long ago
labeled such by many
while others even then
thought the idea trite
so why has it lasted
when the belief is gone
it is really still proper
to call it the Lord's day?

Verse 3

It is Sunday to some
a workday for others
a holiday to relax alone
or to go to the big game,
while are there still those
who truly understand
why Heavenly Father only
asked for one day in seven?
|
Verse 4

Do we dwell on sacred
ground when we ask
all the questions above
for don't all have the right
to choose for ourselves
what is best to do Sunday,
keep the Sabbath day holy
or choose man's law instead?

Verse 5

It is still the Lord's day now
no matter what choice made
for it is so commanded to be
and not one has re-written
this commandment as yet
or any of the others to see,
some just say it is a maybe,
like the others for they are free.

Verse 6

So while on this sacred field
I lay these words on paper
not to condemn or change
but just so we can see now
what changes we've made
so subtly, while others too
stood idly by not wanting
to get involved or others upset.
