Shadow's pass . . .
my window now
and then
as sitting
by the hour
I watch and wait
for one familiar
that I know
will stop for me
to say hello
to visit a moment
and then be gone
but many days
have come and gone
and the shadow
has not again appeared.

But not knowing
and only able to wait
I watch the shadows
passing by each day
with a slower heart beat
than the day before
as I learn these shadows
are not meant for me
or to stop at my door.
