"Surely Not All Have Forgotten Me"

C.J. Ingerson
11/4/98

Verse 1
********

Shadow's pass . . .
my window now
and then
as sitting
by the hour
I watch and wait
for one familiar
that I know
will stop for me
to say hello
to visit a moment
and then be gone
but many days
have come and gone
and the shadow
has not again appeared.

Verse 2
********

So I wait and ponder
what could've happened
what did I do wrong
was it something
I said when last we met?

Verse 3
********

But not knowing
and only able to wait
I watch the shadows
passing by each day
with a slower heart beat
than the day before
as I learn these shadows
are not meant for me
or to stop at my door.

Verse 4
********

For now I will go
to sleep for a while
and then on the morrow
I will watch again
to see the shadow
for which I know
is sure to come
as surely not all
have forgotten me
as surely not all
have forgotten me. . .
