"Silent Whispers in the Morning"

C.J. Ingerson
10/31/98

Verse 1
********

"Daughter, son . . .
where are you,
why have you
not reported in
are you afraid
I would not be here
to listen if you did?

Verse 2
********

And each morning
starts the same
with these little
whisperings in my ear
where are you,
why have you
not reported in?

Verse 3
********

So each day
as the one before
I get on my knees
to report in prayer
so I can answer
this whisperings
each morning.

Verse 4
********

Now and then
I've tried to ignore
these whispers
only to find my day
is full with contention
and missed rainbows
of opportunity to talk
one on one with Father.

Verse 5
********

I've come to learn
how much I love
this time alone with him
even if now and then
He calls first to me
in a still small voice . . ."

Verse 6
********

"Often in the morning . . .
when I've left my bed
and started the new day
chores and trials ahead
I've wondered of the Hymn,
"Ere You Left Your Room
This Morning," did you
think to pray? And if I
remember not of yes or no

Verse 7
********

I stop and again start my day
with prayer to my Father,
through His son my Savior,
even Jesus the Christ,
and then renewed with spirit
abounding with my thoughts
now in order and purpose
go I into the morning
or the night prepared

Verse 8
********

having asked for others
thanking for what I have
even more importantly
for what I have not sometimes,
but oh what joy to know
He is always there just waiting
to hear my voice in prayer. . ."

Verse 9
********

"So when these . . .
silent whispers of the Spirit come
ignore them not to kneel and pray
for Father loves more than we know
and he just wants to hear our voice
in reporting to Him each day.

Verse 10
********

He wants to know we love him
and most of all His son, our Savior.
He wants to hear of beliefs and hopes,
even sometimes our wants and needs,
so as a Father he can answer prayer
in our lives each and every day . . ."
