"Dear Diary - "

C.J. Ingerson
1/13/99

Verse 1
********

And they lived happily ever after,
oh how my mind wanders today
even amongst others laughter,
for my prince charming to stay.

Verse 2
********

Boys are so funny, waiting on a train
and they laugh at me dressing up
like a grand princess to recite a refrain
and learning to sip my water from a cup.

Verse 3
********

Why does it take so long to go from
childhood to young woman to a woman
where does the change within come
it certainly doesn't appear like a man?

Verse 4
********

Yet I am a youth and have things to learn
while all around me many believe not
and I know of Heavenly Father's concern
as so many of His daughters have forgot.

Verse 5
********

We want to be adults along the way
yet are we suppose to be able to take
commandments, changing what they say,
Satan to harvest us like leaf's with a rake?

Verse 6
********

Oh diary, why can boys go wait for trains
while we have to be pretty and cute today
why don't they to have to develop brains
or why can't a young woman go out to play?

Verse 7
********

Remember diary of the mud fights in rain
how mad mother got yet when she turned
we could see her laughter in window pane
yet when father got home our bottoms burned?

Verse 8
********

Remember the grand balls with music alive
men lined up for our hands to dance away
oh remember the loveliness of the; oh try
to remember my diary before I lose this day?

Verse 9
********

Yes I am a daughter of Heavenly Father
I'll go to the Temple to be wed for eternity
but today I rather be a blooming flower
wild with play and dance in total un-dignity.

Verse 10
********

So dear diary have you gotten all of this
I am a young woman who is in the rafters
soon to be a woman, with nothing to miss
and I still want to dream of happy ever afters'?
