"This is a day to remember . . .

Verse 1
********

This is a day to remember...
not to be sad but rather
to reflect upon freedom
and the blessing it is
especially in the USA.

Verse 2
********

Other countries have it
and we've even been part
to help make it a better
world in which to live
but none have what we have.

Verse 3
**********

The right to choose a church
or to see a friend far away
to hold hands or dance
meeting in large groups
or just sometimes by oneself.

Verse 4
*********

Seeing the excitement
of a child at play or school
following the trail of a bug
simply being allowed to be
a child one day to the next.

Verse 5
*********

To read a good book or worse
even trash if one were to chose
to go to movies selecting from
many instead of only one or two
while there is also TV for others.

Verse 6
*********

It is the right to be me instead of you
the time to run or walk or sit or sleep
this day is the day we think of those
who went and did what needed doing
instead of staying home protesting.

Verse 7
********

Don't forget for a moment though
without freedom none of this could be
we aren't upset with those who protest
just they forget their right came from us
who protected this freedom to enjoy.

Verse 8
*********

We can't always tell of tomorrow
but we can read and study the past
so this day we set aside to say
to all who went before to make us free
Happy Veteran's Day from us to you. . ."
