About the Anglican Church Incorporated

The Anglican Church Incorporated is a confederation of Autonomous Anglican Churches in full communion with each other. It was formed in 1991 to bring some measure of unity in the splintered Traditional Anglican world, and its basic position as a Communion is outlined below:

A Confederation of Autonomous Juristrictions.


This Church declares itself to be a part of the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. It further states itself to be of Anglican Doctrine, Discipline and Worship, adhering to the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral basic requirements of Anglicanism.

This Church consists of congregations in Communion with Bishops who have been admitted to this Church, said Bishops being admitted on the basis of their Standing in an Anglican Juristriction.

Jurisdictions of this Church shall be in Communion with each other, giving mutual recognition in all respects.

On admission, the petitioning jurisdiction shall present their Articles of Incorporation, Constitution, Canons and all else required to establish that they are a regularly constituted body in obedience to Anglican Order.

Jurisdictions are not limited by Geographical borders. Transfer of Clergy and Congregations between Jurisdictions shall be by mutual agreement by both Jurisdictions.

This Church shall meet in Nation Synod every second year, the Bishops meeting at least annually. Individual jurisdictions shall hold Synods as seems appropriate for them.

The Bishops of this Church shall elect from their number a Bishop to serve as Chairman of the House of Bishops. He shall be a bishop with jurisdiction, will hold office for a term of two years when another election shall be held. The Chairman of the House of Bishops, the Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Church, Inc., shall have no jurisdiction over any other jurisdiction than his own.

Alterations, and additions to this document may be made by a two-thirds vote of the House of Bishops, and the elected Clergy and Lay Delegates to a National Synod of this Church.
