Most scriptures agree that God made man from dust or clay. With the current advances in science, specifically cloning and genetics; The following passages from Zecharia Sitchin's The 12th Planet (p312) referencing clay, blood and man's creation are food for thought. (insert text here)
Additional passages sited by Sitchin from the Epic "When gods as men" and an old Babylonian text the "Creation of Man by the Mother Godess" strengthen the corollaries between man's creation of clay and blood to modern day Genetic Engineering.

In Sumerian texts, the "alien gods" that were responsible for mining precious ore in the "Underworld" (thought by some to be located in South Africa?) revolted against the higher gods that were in orbit around earth, siting the hard labor involved in mining ore. To relieve their strife it was decided by council, that a helper/worker would be "created" to help them.
At first, some unusual hybrids resulted but then they agreed to make man in their own image.
The course taken through this facility or temple is described in detail. After entering the creator godess or priestess after washing her hands goes through a series of chambers washing and removing items of clothing along the way. Ultimately the creator godess took some "clay" from the "hairy man" and some "blood" from a donor "god", combining the two. ... Next this mixture was placed (Implanted?) in a birthing god or vestle virgin (similar insemination methods are used today), through which the first man, Addama was born.
They were pleased with their Addama and his smooth skin attested to how close he was made to their image.
