FACTS ABOUT ABE:
-Born Sunday,February 12th,1809 in Hardin County Kentuky,(now in LaRue County)
-Kentuky Indians killed his grandfather
-Thomas Lincoln was his father
-Nancy Hanks was his mother
-He had an older sister named Sarah, and a younger brother named Thomas that died at infancy.
-His wifes name was Mary Ann Todd.-->>
-He met her in 1839, and it was at a formal dance in Springfield.
-They married on November 4,1842
-Her father,a wealthy Kentuky banker, didn't approve of Lincoln.
-Lincoln's father was said to be "grown up without an education"
-Thomas Lincoln (his father) became a skilled carpenter and bought 3 estates before they're move from Kentuky.
-His first law partner was John Todd Stuart(1807-1885)
-During his partnership with Todd, this is when Lincoln began to get his reputation as an expert attorney, and a likely candidate for political advancement.
-Got his nickname "Honest Abe" in the town of New Salem in Illionois, where he lived until 1837.He impressed the town so much with his character,and he also wrestled the town bully.
-recieved $25,000 a year for being president
-Before becoming president,he was elected to Illionois State Legislature in 1834,and he was a member of the House of Representatives from 1847-1849.
-Abe Lincoln was in office from 1861 to 1865
-Was the 1st president of the republican party
-Lincoln's head is featured on Mt.Rushmore. (far right)
-Lincoln Logs take after his last name because he lived in a cabin when he was younger, and they just followed the idea.
-One of Lincoln's idols was George Washington.
-Lincoln was asassinated April 14th, 1865. He got shot by a man named, John Wilkes Booth, while watching a comedy play.
-He Had 4 Children named: Robert Todd Lincoln,Edward Banker Lincoln,William Wallace Lincoln, and Thomas "Tad" Lincoln
