If you like Tam Lin, whether the songs, the books, or the old cheesy movie, these are some other movies that you might enjoy. Or if you want to indoctrinate your children into being total freaks at a young and impressionable age.
A Midsummer Night's Dream- fairies, fairies everywhere.
Beauty and the Beast- it's Disney, but it's cute.
Black Cauldron, The- okay, a lengthy note on this movie. It's by Disney again, and while it's still awesome, they botched the book up something nasty. It's still got self-sacrifice and love for one's companions in it, but different. If you really want a TL-type sacrifice kick, read the books by Lloyd Alexander.
Camelot- silly little musical with a pseudo-medieval vibe. For those of you who liked that people in the ballad lived in castles.
Dark Crystal, The- little puppet gnomes save their world. And girls have wings. Very sexy.
Labyrinth- Sarah has to save her little brother, Toby, from the Goblin King.
Peter Pan- mortals and fairy-types mix and match freely. There's a Disney version of this, and a 2004 live action version. Go with live action.
Princess Bride, The- Westley rescues his True Love (tm) from an arranged marriage.
Romeo + Juliet- it's got that urban fairytale vibe, even though it's Shakespeare. For those of you who wish that Janet had failed miserably.
This list is, of course, ever in progress. If you have recommendations, please send them to me!
