The day I first saw her eyes was one I would never forget. March 19, 2001, in San Diego, CA. I was there to see my favorite band in concert, The Backstreet Boys. I have always admired their music and even fancied one of them, AJ McLean. He had been a major part of my one on one sex life with my hand a few toys for about a year. Anyway, a friend and I made the trip to CA and found that our seats at the concert were a bit high up in the rafters. I was happy nevertheless to be able to see the BSB in concert for I heard it was a show like no other.
I did what every fan did. I bought everything I could afford to buy from the vendors inside the arena. Of course that wasn't much because everything in the arena cost a damn fortune. I settled for a program and beer and went to my seat. My friend and I chatted for a while about who was the cutest in the band and went through the book hoping to find a good picture of our "favs". I came to the page about a young lady whose voice I can only describe as angelic but forceful. My hands trembled as I looked at the picture, trying desperately to breathe normally. That didn't work because my friend noticed my reaction almost instantaneously.
"She is very pretty," Kathy said gazing at the pic.
"Yeah, she is."
That's all I could say. At that moment my mind was in a daze, as I felt drawn to the girl's eyes. They hypnotized me and I felt myself warming in places I forgot existed. I couldn't take my eyes off her. Her hair was short. Butch would be the word some people would use but everything else about her screamed fem. The way her lips were naturally pursed made intimate pictures in my mind come forth quickly. I wanted to know what her kiss tasted like.
"Earth to Hill. Come in Hill," said Kathy.
I smiled at her. She knew I was in la la land.
"I'm here, Major Tom. What's going on?"
"She is out of your league, girl. The show is about to begin soon. You have the camera ready?"
"Yeah. I have it armed and ready. I don't know how the pics are going to show up seeing how we are so far away from the actual stage. Everyone below us look like ants."
"They have jumbotrons. Just take some pics," said Kathy.
Kathy and I have only known each other for a short while but we became fast friends. It's funny how things work out in friendly relationships. I met her online through the Yahoo match making service hoping to start a romance but it turned out that we were better off as friends. She's a wonderful woman. Beautiful eyes dimples in both cheeks and a killer smile but somehow I can't see myself with her romantically.
Suddenly I heard the snapping of fingers in my ear.
"You ok?"
"Yeah. I'm fine," I said but I was lying. This girl in the pic was in my head. The lights went down and the whole place went nuts. I looked down at the crowd seeing the entire blue glow lights swaying and fans chanting "Backstreet Boys" like a holy mantra. I looked over at Kathy and noticed her eyes beaming and a wide smile gracing her face. She had never been to a BSB concert before and I could already tell that she was gonna be another Nsync fan converted.
A DJ from the local radio station came onto the stage and introduced the opening act. Her name was Krystal. The crowd went nuts. I couldn't control myself and screamed as loud as I could for her. Might as well be a fan and enjoy, right?
Krystal came on the stage and I felt my heart began to flutter. She was stunning in a long cloak concealing her face. It added to the mystery of her persona and I felt myself again get warm and tingly. Why is this girl affecting me so? The music came on the speakers and soon she began to sing. Her voice called to me. It was so sweet, so full of life. As I listened, my mind concentrated only on the words she sang and spoke. Everyone else was tuned out and it was just her and me.
Her set was short. Only four songs or maybe five. She announced that she was to be in section five of the arena signing autographs and taking pictures. I knew I had to see her up close. After her set was finished and the lights of the house came up, I looked at Kathy. She knew instantly what I was going to ask.
"Sure, lets go see this girl. You're a hopeless romantic, I hope you know that," she said with a smile.
I smiled back and we left our seats. I felt giddy inside as we got closer to her table. There were hordes of people surrounding it and I wondered if there was going to be enough time to actually take a picture and talk with her. I stood in line and waited my turn. Kathy stayed in the background trying hard not to laugh at my eagerness to see a woman I would probably only meet once in my life.
It was finally my turn to say hello to Krystal. By God she was beautiful! The picture didn't do her justice. She was petite but she had a strength inside her that radiated throughout her body. As I watched her smile and thank the fans in before me, I couldn't help but wonder how soft she would feel in my arms.
"Hi," she said to me.
"Hello," I said back. I was dumbfounded. I couldn't find the words to tell her how I admired her.
"What's your name?"
"Hills."
"Well, hello Hills."
"You're beautiful," I said.
She blushed. The added color made her more exquisite. "Thank you," she said.
I suddenly felt stupid. I just embarrassed her in front of her fans. Most of all, I embarrassed myself.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that."
She blushed again. I could have sworn I saw her smile too. Not one of those polite smiles, but rather a smile that had a kind of innocent flirtatious hint to it.
"Don't be sorry," she said and she reached for my hand. She gave it a slight squeeze and I immediately felt a jolt of electricity flow between us.
"Can you sign this, please," I asked her and handed her a piece of paper.
"Sure," was all she said. She scribbled something on it and folded it up. She placed the paper in my hand and thanked me for coming. "Be sure to read this later," she said, her voice a little husky.
"OK. Thank you, Krystal," I said and walked away putting the paper in one of my jean pockets.
I walked over to Kathy and nearly went apeshit with giddiness.
"I take it everything went well," she said with a devilish grin.
"Yeah. Let's get back to our seats before the concert starts. I still want to see my Xander onstage humping the floor," I said giggling.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. As long as you don't start wanting my Nicky, I'm all for it."
We walked back to our rafter seats and waited for the show to begin.
