Overtaxed and Underpaid

Storyteller and political commentator of song Roger Deitz

Concert:     Saturday, April 18, 1998 8pm

Yes, we made it through the worst. We filed those papers, ran down to the mail box and kissed away a few more dollars for the government to spend. So how do we celbrate? For us it’s a blast of acoustic humor by Roger Deitz. This is the relief we need.

Wipe off your brow and say “whew”, then join us for a glimpse of the system and its demands through Roger’s world. His music and rhythm will get you stomping and his lyrics will give you a chuckle.
Roger is a master of parody and characterization. That’s what makes this a night you don’t want to miss. He is a fine musician (on both guitar and banjo) and weaves humorous stories into his act. He is considered a leading authority on the current acoustic music scene with his album No Cure for Love which was on the Top Ten Best Folk and Country Albums in 1989. He writes for Acoustic Guitar, Frets Magazine, The Fast Folk Musical Magazine, Billboard and Sing Out! His “Ragtag” column is a favorite all around.

Deitz is a keen observer with an acerbic wit and unique style of writing and performing. His compositions on guitar and banjo have a traditional flavor that draws on his many years as a folk performer.

This entertaining show starts at 8pm on Saturday, April 18th, 1998. Seating is limited and you should call ahead (908) 753-0190 for your $10 tickets. As always there will be an art exhibition on display to view and light refreshments will be served at intermission.
