Start at second world
Enter "ZELDA" as a name to begin at the second world.

Sword Skills
To discover the art of the upward attack, go to Darunia and use the Jump spell to leap up to the house with a chimney. Drop down this and go right to find a knowledgeable warrior.
The downward attack is found in Mido. Use the Jump spell to reach the open door at the top of the church, and go through to find a teacher.

The Final Guardian
When fighting your shadow, move to the left side of the screen and press B repeatedly. Your shadow may hit you once or twice, but you should land many more strikes during that time.

A Link to the Past

Double Magic Power
After getting the magic powder, go to Smithy's Shop in Kakario Villiage in the Light World. Use the Magic Hammer on the stake and fall down the hole. Go up and throw Magic Powder into the red thing on hands. A bat will come out. When he's done, your Magic Bar will have a 1/2 on top of it. You now have double magic power!

Final Boss Tactics
When you get to the last boss, here's how to defeat him. Hit him a couple of times with your sword. He should throw his dagger at you. Try to avoid it. Do this another time. The third time you do this, he will twirl his dagger. Little fireballs will form around it. The balls will expand. Soon they will turn to fire bats. These bats take away 2 hearts. Try to avoid them. Keep hitting him with your sword. Do this step 3 times. When you finish, his dagger will be gone. Now his usual attack will be a power stomp that lets out a fire bat, that will make fire balls in its path. When he stomps, the floor will cave in on one side. If you drop through this, there will be 2 chests with treasures to help you. He'll stomp 4 times. Then the lights will go out. The 2 torches at the end of the room will go out. Light them with your torch or fire rod to see him. Hit him with your sword, then he will freeze. Quickly equip your bow and silver arrows. Shoot him once. The lights will go out again. Light them a second time to see him again, and hit him with your sword again. Equip your bow and shoot him with a silver arrow. Do this 1 or 2 more times and he will be defeated. A door will open and a bridge will appear. Go in the door to receive the tri-force. You have conquered the game!

Get the 4th Magic Jar
Beside the desert in the light world, there is a man who sits by a sign and he says to leave him alone. When you are nearing the end of the game in the dark world, in the village in one of the demolished houses, there will be a chest. You can't open it, so bring it to that guy in the light world who wants to be left alone. He turns out to be a theif and he will pick the lock for you, and inside the chest is the last magic jar.

Get the Magic Powder
In the light world, when you are in the dark forest, you will see a rotted mushroom, you are allowed to put it in your item stash. It doesn't do anything, but take it and go to the witch who is brewing something beside the potion shop. Give the mushroom to her and she will say that she will give you something in return. So go in the shop, and beside the little guy sitting there, is a bag of magic powder.

Items from the Fat Ferry
Near the end of the game in the dark world, you will see in the pyramid that there is a crack in it for a bomb to blow up. An ordinary bomb wo'nt do the trick, but a super bomb will.

Go to the guy near the village selling bombs. He will have a big green one to sell to you, go and buy it, but be carefull, since it is so big, you cant carry it, you have to drag it to the pyramid.

When you get to the pyramid, releace the bomb in front of the crack. It will blow a hole in the wall. Enter to meeet the fat fairy who will tell you to throw items into the pond. The only items you can throw in are your master sword, your arrows, and an empty magic jar. She will give you a #4 sword, silver arrows, and fill your empty jars with magic potion.

The Flute and the Duck
Once you have the flute, if you play it in front of the weather vane in Kakariko, the duck will come and help you. He can transport you to many locations. Here they are:

#1 Death Mountain
#2 Witch's Hut
#3 Kakariko Village
#4 Link's Cottage
#5 Warp Tile South of Eastern Palace
#6 Warp Tile in Desert
#7 Swamp Ruins
#8 South of Lake Hylia

Get Rupees Easily
In the normal world (not the dark one), go to the area before the desert, just to the west of the swamps. Lift the large green rock to reveal a secret cave entrance underneath it. Enter this cave and lift the pots to find a total of 50 rupees. Go back out and re-enter this cave again and again to keep gaining rupees.

Hookshot Invincibility
When you fire the hookshot, no matter how far it extends, you will be invincible during its duration. Enemies will pass right through you. Use it to your advantage if you're surrounded.

Link's Awakening

Alternate Music
To change the background music at the file selection screen, start a new player and enter your name as ZELDA. Capitals only.

Bomb Arrows
Equip yourself with both bombs and arrows. Press A+B at the same time and the arrows will carry the bombs until they explode or hit something!

Boomerang and Magnified Glass
To get the Magnified Glass, go to the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. Win the Yoshi Doll (very easy). Now, go to the Triplet's House in Mabe Village. Give the Yoshi Doll to the Mom for the Ribbon. Go to MeowMeow's house in Mabe Village and go inside the dog house. Give the Ribbon to the dog for some Canned Dogfood. Go to Toronbo's Shores and give the dogfood to Sale the Alligator for some Bananas. Go east of the castle and you'll find a monkey. Give the bananas to the monkey for a stick. Go to Ukuku Prairie and find Tarin at the Beenest. Give him the stick for the Honey Comb. Go to Animal Village and give the Honey Comb to the bear chef for the Pineapple. Go onto Tal Tal Mountain and find the Triplet Dad. Give him the Pineapple for a flower. Return all the way to Animal Village and give the flower to the goat for the Note. Give the Note to Mr. Write north of the Mysterious Woods for the Broom. Return to Animal Village and give the Broom to the old lady for the Fish Hook. Go to Martha's Bay and find the bridge east of the Mermaid Statue. Swim under it to find a fisherman. Give him the Fish Hook for a Necklace. Give the Necklace to the Mermaid in Martha's Bay for a Fish Scale. Now, go onto the bridge east of the Mermaid Statue. You must use the Hookshot to reach the Mermaid Statue. Once there, place the Fish Scale in the statue to reveal a hidden hole. Inside are invisible enemies. Get by them and proceed north for the Magnified Glass. This lets you see invisible enemies and small print (such as in the book at the Mabe Village Library). Now, go to Toronbo's Shores to the south end. There should be an explosive wall. Blow it up with a Bomb and go inside to find a weird creature. Give him the Shovel for the Boomerang. This trick takes a while, but it is very helpful because you need the Magnified Glass to finish the game. The Boomerang is helpful because it can be used to defeat enemies easier, such as enemies that die from the Bow.

Bow Wows Shell Sniffing Nose
After you beat castle 2 don't take Bow Wow home just yet. Take him around to look for shells, if there is a shell on screen he will tell you to dig(make sure to bring a shovel).

Coconuts of Fortune!
In the first level go to the tree with the monkey. When he throws those coconuts hit them with your sword. Items include rupees, guardian acorns, a peice of power, and nothing in any of the coconuts will do you any harm.

Easy Money
In level three, the boss will taunt you and say that you'll never find him. To get to him ram the wall with pegasus boots. To get infinite rupies, get to the boss, but don't ram the wall. A bunch of little blobs will start falling out of the sky. Kill these for as long as you want for easy money.

Easy way to get Eagle's Tower Instrument
At the starting point in Eagle's Tower,go right twice, go to the area that leads to the stairs, use the screen warp to get on the ledge in the previous room and press down. It should be the room with the instrument.

Extra Seashells
To get a bonus seashell, find exactly five secret seashells, then make your way to the seashell mansion. Once inside, walk right until water flows up that big pipe. Another bonus shell can be found by doing this with exactly ten seashells.

Finding Bombable Walls
You can poke any wall to see if you can bomb through it. Just get your sword out and poke at the wall. If you hear a hollow clank, you can bomb through the wall.

Flying
To fly you must have the Boomerang and the Rooster. Throw the Boomerang and pick up the Rooster. Then the Boomerang will hover below you. You cannot get attacked by normal enemies but you may attack them!

Free Items
First grab the item you want for free in the shop. After go exit the door, but make sure the shopkeeper isn't looking at you. You will get it free. If you go back in he'll zap you. Then you'll lose a life, but you still keep the item.

Fun With Marin
After you beat the first 3 levels get Marin to follow you. Here are some things that you can do.

1. Beat a chicken with your sword.

2. Look in a chest or break a pot.

3. Go down the well in Mabe village.

4. Go into a dungeon and come out when you are almost dead.

5. Talk to the Chief Bear in Animal village.

6. Play your ocarina and ask what she thinks of it.

7. Take her to Trendy Game (The Best One)

You can also turn her into a ghost. Once she's following you, use the screen warp to go to level 4 and beat it. When you come out a ghost will be following you, and now Marin will be a ghost as well. When you get back to the ghost's house, he will tell you where to look for a jar and from then on Marin will be herself again.

Heart Pieces Map

How to Make a Missile
To build a missile, place the arrows in one hand and bombs in the other. To fire, press A + B simultaneously.

Keep Marin With You For The Entire Game
Get Marin to follow you (beat the first three levels) then take the WARP (the hole with the spirals in them) to the animal villiage. Walk to the left. When you are about to go to the next screen, push Select, and you should go completely warp across the screen. Now Marin will follow you the whole game.

Money Saving Tip
If you're going to buy an expensive item, get it from the counter and go pay for it. As your money is being taken away press Start + Select + A + B at the same time. Choose SAVE AND QUIT then reload the game. If you were fast enough you'll have the item and most of the money you would have spent.

Nightmare Key
If you have trouble beating level two then this is for you. In the room with the nightmare key first kill the bunny dude trapped in the blocks, then kill the bat and then kill the guy with the skull face. After you do this, the treasure chest with the nightmare key in it will appear.

Old Woman Glitch
When you go to the Trendy Game, go to the screen just above it and use the screen warp, to warp into the trees outside of the south of the Trendy Game door. If you do it right, you should be able to go down to the screen on the other side of the trees. There you should notice that the monsters by the ocean are old ladies, and that they also throw old ladies at you!!

Piece of Heart at the Fishing Pond
North of Mabe Village there is a fishing game. There is one big fish directly below you. If you catch it the man will give you a peice of heart and 20 rupees.

NOTE: It helps to catch all the other fish before you catch this one.

Revenge of the Chickens
In Mabe Village (where Marin and Tarin live and where the game begins), find a chicken and beat it with your sword continuously. After you take enough swipes at it, it'll call the cavalry, and you'll be savagely pecked to daeth by vengeful chickens! you can escape them by moving out of the screen and onto the next. This works with doggies, too, but they're more irritable and independant than chickens are! Have fun!

Rupee Trick
This is one for those who like to fish, you need at least 25 rupees for this. Go to the fishing pond in Mabe Village, and do the fishing routine. Keep trying again till all the fish are gone, you'll wind up gaining 5 rupees out of it. You can keep going back to the pond and doing this until you're pockets are lined with rupees!

Second Power Bracelet
You can get the second power braclet by going to animal village. In animal village you go down to the walrus and then go up two screens and you will find a secret cave. Blow up the cave entrance so you can go in. Then go to the far left of the screen but don't go to the next screen. Then use the screen warp and press left on the control pad and you will end up on a roof with cracks. Don't make the cracked blocks fall or this could ruin the trick. Now go to the top left and go up, there you should find a chest get the chest and you will have the second power braclet.

Simplify the Trading Game
If you're too lazy to go through and trade all of the items do this: Get the yoshi doll as usual, but do not trade it. When you come to the hungry monkey screen, warp by him and continue on getting the 5 golden leaves. Then when Tarin is in front of the tree and asks for the stick say yes, and suddenly you have one. He will knock down the beehive and it's all yours.

Skip Screens
As you approach the edge of any screen, watch carefully. Just before the screen scrolls to a different section press Select to warp you to the other side of the screen. This trick makes it easy to bypass some obstacles.

Stealing
To steal from a store, take what you want then stand above the shopkeeper. As as he's looking at the top of the screen, run out the door.

There is one minor setback from stealing. After you steal something from a store, all of the characters in the game will call you THIEF.

Important: If you steal from a shopkeeper you can never return. Doing so is a death sentence! However, you can use this to advantage by choosing Save and Continue when the shopkeeper kills you. You can now re-enter the store and steal from it again.

Super Glitch Sword
WARNING!!:This code is very tempting but can mess up your game unless you erase all files then start over! With this code you can get a sword/weapon that can kill anything with one hit! The downside is that it screws up your game 60% of the time. First: Collect all the secret seashells but dont go to get your new sword. Second: Beat all the dungeons with your Level 1 sword. Then get all hearts without getting the new sword. Third: get all the weapons besides the new sword. Fourth: go to any edge of the map, the last space North, South, East or West and Warp past it(use he warp code). You will be in a completely blank screen except for you and a weird messed up thing in the center. Go to it and take it. It will say you got %@*%#$&#*! or something like that. It then takes you to the title screen. Finally: continue your game. You will be back at Marin and Tarin's house. Equip the Glitch Sword and Exit. WARNING:This is were over half the time your game freezes permanently. If it doesn't then you are super lucky. You now have the best weapon. If it freezes hen you have to erase all your files and start from scratch. It wont let you load your game if you want. I don't recomend you do it unless you are bored and you haven't beaten the game. It won't work mosst of the time in new versions of the game.

Talking String Bean Guys
Sprinkle some magic powder on one of those String Bean Guys that zap you when you hit them. You can then talk to them and they say strange things.

The Five Golden Leaves
Having trouble finding those darned Golden Leaves that Richard wants so badly? Here they are:

1) In the castle, first room to your left, kill all of the enemies to receive a leaf.
2) Outside the right of the castle, kill the guy who pops his head out of five holes to throw bombs - you'll get another leaf.
3) In the castle in the room next to the room with the guy with ball and chain, bomb the weird looking walls to reveal the third Golden Leaf.
4) Kill the guy with the ball and chain. One more to go...
5) Outside to the left of the castle, throw a stone at the bird on the tree and kill it. You're all done!

Trading ShortcutYou know all that trading you have to do throughout the games? Well here's a way to beat the system. You can only do this once, so be wise. Go into the Mysterious Forest. Enter the cave with the sign out front (Up 2 over 2). Once inside, go up one screen and over one screen. Now go back to the screen you just came from to the right. But before the screen changes, use the screen warp.

This will put you on a roof with several cracks. Now go over one screen. You will drop off into a room with some stairs and several enemies. Go up one screen. On the podium, you will find the next trade item.

WARNING: Don't go out the stairs, you will get stuck on the mermaid statue and that will ruin your game if you save it.

Turn Marin into a Rooster
When you go to the animal village and can't pass the whale, don't go to see Marin. Instead use the screen warp to get by him. Now continue the game as normal until you get the flying rooster. Next, go to the sea shore and get Marin. After talking to her she will be a rooster, but after a while her head gets a little messed up.

NOTE: Do not enter the crane game shop after you do this or your game will crash and freeze.

Winning the Crane Game
This technique is a little more effective way to get things on the crane game. Your timing must be just right, or you'll never get it. To do this trick, put the crane on the upper left hand side of the screen with the shadow over the left moving conveyer belt. Wait until what you want is about halfway up the right side to drop the crane.

The Ocarina of Time

Cheat: Super Cuccoo Game Cheat

This should make it a lot easier to catch the Super Cuccoos. As young Link, go to Lon Lon Ranch and enter the first door on the left. The sleeping guy (Talon?) will be there in a room full of chickens. Grab and toss all the chickens into the corner of the room where the bottom of the staircase is. The chickens will get stuck there and won't roam as much. Now go and play the Super Cucco game. He'll toss his three "super chickens" into the room. An easy win, now that all the other chickens are stuck in the corner. The prize: A full bottle of Lon Lon milk.

Cheat: Unbreakable Deku Sticks

To get an unbreakable Deku Stick you must do the following:

1.        Get a lot of Deku Sticks.

2.        Equip a Deku Stick.

3.        Do the Jumping Slash Attack on an object and either hit the tip or middle of the stick.

The stick will break in half and you will keep one half which is invincible and is twice is strong than Link's normal sword.

Cheat: Unlimited Gold Skulltillas

First you need to get bombs, the song of storms, and bomerang. First go to hyrule castle if you jump in the moat so the guards won't see you. Drift until you see a shallow corner, climb up and you will see a tree. play the song of storms. A hole will open up, jump down. There will be several walls that can be blown down with a bomb. On of these has a gold skulltilla behind it. BE CARFUL, first kill the bug then stand right in front of the cirle that sends you back to the surface. Next, throw the bomerang at the token as soon as it hit's the token step back on the circle. You will be back at the surface. If you did this right the gold skulltilla should still be there. Repeat this process until you have 100 or more.

Unlockable: Getting the Biggoron Sword

Here is what you need to get and do to receive the Biggoron Sword. This is a great sword since it cuts swings to death practically in half. Some have time limits and don't warp or else it will reduce time and you need Epona for this. Use the same carrot method when you beat Ingo for this.

How to read: When you read one line, that tells you where you give a certain item to a person (e.x.,Corjiro you get from Kakariko Village from the Cucco Girl). The next line shows you where you give the item you obtained from the previous line to and where the person is.

1.        Pocket Egg-Cucco Girl (Kakariko Village) (Note: Make him happy by waking up Talon and then go back to Cucco Girl)

2.        Corjiro-Brother of Cucco Girl (Lost Woods)

3.        Odd Mushroom-Mother behind potion shop (Kakariko Village)

4.        Odd Potion-Kokiri Girl (Lost Woods)

5.        Poacher's Saw-Carpender (Gerudo Valley)

6.        Goron's Sword-Biggoron (Death Mountain)

7.        Prescription-King Zora (Zora's Domain)

8.        Eyeball Frog-Professor (Lake Hylia)

9.        Eye Drops-Biggoron (Death Mountain)

You will receive a claim check after step 9. Play the Sun's Song 6 times or wait three days to get the Biggoron Sword. Believe me, it's worth all that work!

Cheat: Epona Item Code

Play through the game until you get to Gannon. Then after he knocks the Master Sword out of Link's hands, save & quit. When you start at Gannon's Castle, Leave and go get on Epona in Hyrule Field. Even though the icons are not there, you can use any item you have equipped.(If you use the longshot and it latches on to something, you can fly through anything and everything. Whenever, and wherever you want!)

NOTE: This only works on the GOLD cartridge version of the game (v1.0), other versions (1.1 and 1.2) do not allow this trick.

Hint: Barbecued Link

Play through your game as normal until Ganon, the final boss. After you have knocked Ganon down the first time, retreive the master sword. Get the master sword from Zelda but instead of going back to face Ganon, go the opposite way and move away from Ganon. There should be a piece of land that is near Zelda which juts away from the floating arena. Move back in it until you hit an invisible wall. Turn around in place until you are facing Ganon and equip your bow and arrow. Aim carefully and fire an arrow at Ganon's tail. If the trick worked Ganon should get up and Link should be engulfed in flames.

Hint: Beat Queen Gohama easily

When Queen Gohama climbs up on the wall and on to the roof and tries to lay eggs you can hit her in the eye with the sling shot and she will fall and be paralyzed and ready to hit.

Hint: Beat Shadow Link Easily

Use Din's Fire to damage Shadow Link easily.

Hint: Beat the Shadow Temple Mini Boss

To beat the mini boss in the Shadow Temple ( the one where hands grap you and hold you in place until it bites you ), all you have to do is use your lense of truth. When using it, look for a shadow on the ground. When you see it, put a bomb on it. The boss will then come up out of the ground and you won't be hurt.

Hint: Big Bomb Bag

As a kid go to the bombchu game room in Hyrule Town Market. Play a second time, if you win, you will recieve a bomb bag that can hold 30 bombs.

If you're not very good at bombachu bowling, here's another way to get a bigger bomb bag. As young Link, go to Goron City. There is a large Goron rolling around. Stop him with a bomb, and he will give you a bigger bomb bag.

Hint: Boot Locations

To get the Hover Boots go to the Shadow Temple as a adult and go through the invisible wall in the first room and there will be more invisible walls in the next room in one of them there will be a door leading to a deadhand. Beat it to get the Hover Boots. To get the Iron Boots beat the Ice Cavern.

Hint: Bottle Locations

Bottle #1:At Lon Lon Ranch, play Talon's Super Cucco Game. When you win, you will receive a bottle(1) with Lon Lon milk

Bottle #2: In Kakariko village, find all the cuccos and return them to the pen, then talk to the lady standing next to the pen, she will give you a bottle.

Bottle #3: At Lake Hylia (you must have the silver scale), dive into the water to find a bottle and a letter.

Bottle #4: As adult Link, go to the market and talk to the ghost person in the house directly to the left asyou enter. Go outside and collect poes, once you collect 1000 points, the ghost will give you a bottle.

Hint: Chicken Attack

Any fan of the old Zelda games will have figured this one out already:

Attack a chicken repeatedly with your sword and it will call for backup. Soon, tons of chickens will flap around on screen, trying to give Link that same fuzzy "Birds" feeling as in Hitchcock's famous movie.

Simply leave the room or area to stop the chicken attack.

Hint: Creating Music with the Ocarina

You can get even more detailed in the music you play with the ocarina with these extra tips.  To play flat notes, hold Z while playing a note.  To play sharp notes, hold R while playing a note.  To vary the pitch on a note, use the Control Stick.  Try it out and compose your own masterpieces!

Hint: Cure a Wounded Sign

If you slash a sign to smithereens, you can put it back together by playing Zelda's lullaby on your ocarina. The sign will magically recreate itself in front of your eyes.

Hint: Day Time Dog

First get the sun song, then go to the town with the temple of time, next walk up to a dog so it follows you then play the sun song. The dog will follow you until you leave town!

Hint: Easy Way to Beat Mirror Link

If you use the Megaton Hammer against mirror link he won't be able to mirror your attacks.

Hint: End Game Song

At the VERY end of the game, after the entire ending, when it says "The End" and freezes the frame, if you leave it on for awhile, it'll start playing the song you made up for the scarecrow. Wait another minute or so and it'll play it again in a different octave or different instrument. It does this about 4-6 times and then stops. No biggie, just another little "easter egg" Miyamoto dropped in there.

Hint: Extra Bottles

To get extra bottles go to a place where there are fish swimming in a shallow pool, like the hole behind the potion shop in Kokariko Villiage, or Zora's fountain. Equip a bottle, and swap at a fish. When he is in mid-swap pause it and equip something useless in the bottle's place and it will turn into a bottle. DON'T use something important, because you might not be able to get it back.

NOTE: The bottles will appear in your equipment screen, but you may not be able to use them.

Hint: Finding Gold Skulltulas

Before planting a Magic Bean in a mound of soft dirt, empty a jar of bugs (you can buy them for 50 rupees at Hyrule Market or just find them under rocks) on top of the mound. Catch one of the bugs mmediately afterwards so you don't have to find or buy more of them. After one of the bugs goes into the mound of dirt, a Gold Skulltula will jump out, except for the mound right next to the bean selling guy.

Hint: Free Cow

If you return to Lon Lon Ranch after you get Epeona, Malon will challenge you to a race. If you beat 50 sec. she'll say what she that she wants to give you somthing but it is too heavy to carry. If you return to your house there is a cow in it!

Hint: Free Fish

Instead of buying a fish for Lord Jabbu Jabbu (Which is nearly imposible), Just catch one with a bottle right next to the shop. I know this trick is obvious, but some people just don't think!

Hint: Free Hylian Shield

You must NOT have the Hylian Shield already for this trick to work. Go to Kakiriko Graveyard at nightime as a kid and pull back the grave with flowers in the first row of graves. Jump in the pit and open the chest inside.

NOTE: If you already have the Hylian Shield, the chest will contain a blue rupee.

Hint: Free Lon Lon Milk

If you have an empty bottle, stand in front of any cow and play "Epona's Song". The cow will feel energetic and fill your bottle up with Lon Lon Milk for free!

Hint: Fun with Gossip Stones

When you are able to use bombs find a gossip stone. Place a bomb at the base of the stone. When the smoke clears the stone should flash blue twice, red once and then blast off.

Also when you get the megaton hammer from the fire temple find a stone and give it a good wallop and the stone will flatten like a pancake.

Don't worry if you send the stone into space it will come back when you exit the room. When you flatten the stone it should bounce back to its normal shape in a couple of seconds.

Hint: Fun with the Fisherman's Hat

As adult Link, you can hook the fisherman's hat. Just aim at him, then cast. It may take a few tries to find the right place. You'll see that he has gone bald!
Now for something totally new. When you have the hat, cast it into the pond. If you cast enough, the hat will come off the hook and sink. The fisherman will charge you 50 rupees for a replacement. But he never gets one. The fisherman will remain without a hat for the rest of the game.

Hint: Get Mask of Truth

Follow these steps as a kid to gain the Mask of Truth which allows you to talk to the gossip stones. 1. Sell the Keaton Mask to the guard at the foot of Death Mountain. 2. Sell the Skull Mask to the Skull Kid in the Lost Woods. 3. Sell the Spooky Mask to the young boy who plays in Kakariko Graveyard. 4. Finally, Sell the Bunny Hood to the Marathon Runner in Hyrule Field. Make sure you have an empty Giant's Wallet! Now return to the Happy Mask Shop and the Shopkeeper will let you borrow ANY mask for FREE! Note: If you return to the shop without any ruppees, the guy's eyes glow red!

Hint: Golden Scales

Go to the fishing hut when Link is an adult. If you can catch a 15 pound fish you'll receive golden scales. These let you dive to 8 meters.

Hint: Great Faerie Locations

  • Magic Spin Slash: On Top of Death Mountain, there is sign, to the left looks like a door, BOMB it to find a door.
  • Din's Fire: In Hyrule castle, once you enter climb up the vines, jump of the gate and run foward, there should be a sign, go past it and use a BOMB to blow up the rock.
  • Farore's Wind: At Zoras Fountain, go to the right once you enter, there is a island with trees and rocks, go there, use a BOMB on the rock on the wall, then run into the cave.
  • Double magic meter: Play the Bolero of Fire on the Ocarina, then go across the bridge that leads to the Leader Goron, instead of going into his chamber, go left, equip your MEGATON HAMMER and break the rock.
  • Double Energy (Adult): Once you leave the market going towards Ganons Castle, go right, run until you see a bunch of rocks, go past them and you will see a big column, use your GOLD GAUNTLETS to lift it.

Hint: Great Golden Gauntlets

To get the golden gauntlets you must go to Ganon's Tower and go into the shadow room. Once there get to the platform past the guy that steels your stuff when he sucks you in. Once on the platform you must shoot the un-lit torch or lite it somehow and there should be a pathway that leads down to a switch, press it, a chest sould fall from the cieling, go back up, dont worry if you fall you can come back and the chest should still be there.

Hint: Hidden Gold Rupees

Don't wait untill you have 100 Gold Skulltulas to get the golden Ruppee, get it as soon as you get bombs.  As either Link, go to Kakariko Village.  Right when you walk in there is that tree in the middle.  Well take about 10 paces directly behind that tree, you should be in the center of a somewhat open area in the town. (If you have the Stone of Agony, you will feel it rumble.)

Place a bomb there and back away, when it explodes there will be a hole in the ground and kill the two mummies with the Song of the Sun and your sword. A treasure chest will appear with a golden ruppee inside.

Another gold rupee is hidden in the boulder chamber in Goron City. Stay on the left side of the chamber that destroys the rocks. When you get to the end of the line of rocks there should be a gold rupee. In the same chamber there should also be a purple rupee.

For a third, get to the bottom of the well and defeat Dead Hand. Now grab the Lens of Truth and equip it and look for a small chest behind the one you just opened. Open it to reveal a golden rupee.

Hint: Hidden Red Fairies (Gossip Stone)

Low on energy? Find a Gossip Stone (the cycloptic rocks that giggle when you hit them) and play one of the following three songs next to it:
Zelda's Lullaby, Epona's Song, or Song of Storms.

Either touch the red fairy that flies out to fill up your energy or catch it in a bottle so that it can revive you if you die.

Hint: How to get Epona the Horse

Getting Epona can be very tricky at times.  This guide will help you beat Mr Igno.

1.        Learn Epona's Song.  As Young Link talk to Malon in the horse corral in Lon Lon Ranch after meeting Princess Zelda.  Talk to her again and show her your ocarina and she'll teach you Epona's Song.

2.        Become Adult Link and get at least 70 rupees.

3.        Talk to Mr. Ingo outside the corral at Lon Lon Ranch and pay 10 rupees to ride the horse.  Instead of getting on the horse provided, play Epona's Song and Epona will run up to you.  Ride her around the corral to practice.  Wait until the time is up.

4.        Talk to Mr. Ingo again and pay to ride again.  Play Epona's Song and get on Epona.  This time, walk up to Mr. Ingo while on Epona and use Z Targeting to talk to him.  He'll challenge you to a race with a 50 rupee wager.

5.        Win the race against Mr. Ingo.  He'll challenge you to a second race.  Win again and you'll get Epona.

6.        Use the A button to get Epona running really fast and jump over any fence to escape the ranch.

Race Tips:  Racing Mr. Ingo can be tough.  Here's how to win.  Hold forward on the control stick as soon as the race begins.  Use 1 carrot (push A to use a carrot) and wait for it to come back before using it again to keep up with Mr. Ingo.  Hug the fence and wait for him to move out of your way.  Then use up all the carrots you have EXCEPT ONE to speed Epona up and pass him.  Wait until a second carrot appears and use it, then keep doing this to keep ahead of Mr. Ingo.  NEVER USE YOUR LAST CARROT!  Just keep using the second-to-last carrot.  If you use the last one you'll slow down big time and lose.

Hint: Mad Soldier

You know that in the castle courtyard there are the pictures, right? Well, there's also a soldier that's there. Go to the window opposite of the window with pictures. Use your slingshot and shoot in the window. A soldier will peek out, say something, and throw a bomb at you. It's not a useful trick, but it's pretty funny to see.

Hint: Magic Arrows

Fire Arrow - In Lake Hylia, walk across the bridges to get to the tree. Play the Ocarina to make it night time. Equip your bow. Play the flute again, then shoot the sun.

Ice Arrow - In the Gerudo training course, you must collect keys. When you have at least 5, walk into the door in front of the entrance, and use all the keys to make a path. In the big chest you will find the Ice Arrow.

Light Arrow - When you get all of the medallions, go to the Temple of Time. You will find Zelda and she will give it to you.

Hint: Magic Bean Square Locations

Here's the locations of the Magic Bean Squares.

  • Lake Hylia by the laboratory.
  • Desert Colossus by the temple.
  • Gerudo Valley by the bridge.
  • To the left of the entrance bridge to Kokiri Forest.
  • By the Kokiri shop.
  • Lost woods - trail to it: right, left, right, left, and left.
  • Zora's river by the bean selling man.
  • Kokariko graveyard at the top-back-left corner.
  • Death mountain trail at the foot of dodongo cavern.
  • Play the Bolero of Fire to warp into the death mountain crater and the square will be right near the point of arrival.

Hint: Magic Spell Locations

Din's Fire: After collecting some bombs, go to the castle as a child and blow up the rock past the gate.

Farore's Wind: At the location of Lord Jabu Jabu, go to the right of his platform and swim towards the wall. Use a bomb on one of the rocks.

Nayru's Love: Outside of the Spirit Temple, use a bomb on the crack on the walls somewhere nearby in the desert.

Hint: Multiply Bugs

Got a few empty bottles to fill with bugs? Here's an easy way to get multiple bugs without having to go look for them. You need one bug to start off with, commonly found under rocks or by bumping into trees. Catch the bug in a bottle. Now empty the bottle out again. Voila, three bugs will come out -- now you can fill three of your bottles.

Hint: Navi's Hints

Be sure to keep an eye on your fairy companion at all times. When Navi turns green and flies over to a spot, it's usually an indication that there is something hidden there. If you don't feel a rumble from the Stone of Agony, then it's most likely a red fairy (refreshes health and magic). Play the Song of Storms or Zelda's Lullaby, to lure it out. In some occasions, Navi also points out potential "scarecrow" spots and hidden caves.

Hint: Red Fairies Galore!

In Lake Hylia go to where the owl is sitting between the two bridges. Talk to him. After you talk to him run away so he doesn't take you to the castle. Go back to where he was. Then go behind the piece of stone and pull it. Go in the hole and there will be about 20 red fairies!

Hint: Rupees From Light Arrows

If you kill any enemy with nothing but light arrows, when they burn up, they leave behind a purple rupee, worth 50 green rupees.

Hint: Save the Ranch and Get Animals

As a kid go to Lon Lon Ranch. Talk to Malon and she'll teach you a song. Play it to Epona and she'll grow fond of you. Then become an adult. Go to Lon Lon Ranch and pay Mr. Indigo to ride a horse. Then when you're in there, play Epona's song. Epona will run up to you and you ride her for a minute. Then pay him again, get on epona, ride to Mr. Indigo and speak to him. He'll ask if you want to race, say yes. Beat him twice. Then he'll lock you in the ranch. All you have to do is jump over the gate. To get the cow go back to the ranch and talk to Malon. She should ask if you want to do the obstacle course, say yes, and if you break the record you get a cow.

Hint: Scarecrow Song

When you go to Lake Hyrule as young Link, show your Ocarina to the scarecrow. He will ask you to play a song, so create one of exactly 8 notes and remember it. Show and play the song back to the other scarecrow. Come back to the lake as adult Link and play the song to the first scarecrow and you will learn the scarecrow song.

Hint: Secret Pictures in Zelda's Courtyard

Go to the courtyard where you first meet Zelda. Look in the windows, and in one of them you will see some pictures of some familiar video game characters!

Hint: Secret of Butterflies

Ever wonder what secret the harmless little butterflies are hiding that flutter about Hyrule? As young Link, take out a stick and find some butterflies. Slowly follow them until one touches the stick -- which, tadaaaa: turns it into a red fairy. Use a bottle to catch it or touch it to be healed instantly.

To Get To Goron City Quickly From Kokri Forest, Take The First Right, Then a Left, And Go Straight.
NOTE: You Must Have Already Been To Goron City And Blown Up the Boulders Covering the Path.

Hint: Sinker Lure

At the fishing pond, go to the big rock near the large crack in the wall. Run to the corner to find a sinker lure. You can try using it to catch the black eel swimming around in the deepest parts of the pond.

Once you aquire the Stone of Agony, equip it, and every time Link approaches an important item in the game, the Stone of Agony will beat real hard the closer you get to the important item. It is basically a little note that your approaching something good.

Hint: Travel Hyrule Fields Safely

Are you getting annoyed at the skeletons that pop out of the ground at night when you're walking around in the Hyrule Fields? Ever tried camouflaging yourself as local wildlife? For example, try puttin on the rabbit mask you get at the mask shop and you will be able to run around freely without the annoying undead attackers.
Note: You need to be young Link to wear masks.

Hint: Tunic Locations

To get the Goron Tunic go to Goron City as an adult and stop the little goron rolling on the 3rd floor with a bomb. Talk to him about the dragon and the gorons and he will give you the Goron Tunic. To get the Zora Tunic go to Zora's Domain as an adult and unthaw King Zora with a bottle of Blue Fire from the Ice Cavern or the Potion Shop.

Hint: Unlimited Money

For some reason everyone is dissapointed because all you get for finding 100 skulltulla tokens is 200 rupees. Well, actually, it's infinite. Once you get the first huge rupee, you can come back whenever you want and get another one. I don't know why no one else has noticed this yet...

Hint: Unlimited Skulltta Coins Glitch

As a kid go to the tree close to where you found Talon the first time, by the castle. Go to the tree nearby and play the song of storms close to the tree. Bomb the walls until you find the gold skulttatta. Kill it and move close to the portal. Grab the coin with the bommarang and step up right before it comes to you. The word "you" or "you des" will be displayed. Do this as many times as you like.

Hint: Zora Kisses

As adult Link, earn enough money to buy the Zora Tunic (you must not have it already). Then, go to King Zora, melt off the red ice and he'll offer you a Zora Tunic. Since you already have it he'll offer you a big kiss instead.

Masks Locations One of the key aspects of the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask are the unique masks that Link will find throughout the game. Some will transform Link into new forms, while others have very limited uses. There are a total of 24 masks in the game, and you can find them listed below:
1. Deku Mask: Link begins the game with this mask. As the Deku Shrub, he can hop on top of water a couple times, as well as shoot bubbles at enemies. Also, the Deku Shrub can burrow into flowers and then shoot into the air ? gliding down slowly. Controls: A: Spin B: Shoot bubble
2. Bremen Mask: Link receives this mask from the weird guy in the Laundy Pool area of Clock town at night during the first or second days. It is used to herd chicks in the ranch, which will get you the Bunny Hood.

5.Great Bay Temple in mini-boss room Once you locate all of the frogs, use Don Gero's Mask to speak to them. Re-unite them in the Mountain Village after you defeat Goht to get a Heart Piece.

Slow Down Time If you play the Song of Time backwards, time on the clock will move slower, but you will still move at the normal speed. This is very useful when running long distances or when trying to prolong game time. The song is: C-Down, A, C-Right, C-Down, A, C-Right. To return the normal flow of time, simply play the song again.

Stone Mask Secret A hidden feature of the Stone Mask is that it will camouflage Link. This is helpful because most of the enemies will not be able to see you. Bosses will still be able to see you, but most of the typical "run-of-the-mill" bad guys will ignore you.

No-Damage Blast Mask Hold the R button to defend and then push the B button to active the Blast Mask and you won't take any damage from the explosion. The only drawback is that you can't move

Cheat: Hero Adventure
When you pick a new game enter: NNNNN NNNNN NNNNN NNNNN. You will start
with the Victory Ring and a very odd name.

Bigger Seed Satchel
Once you get the Member's Card from the Subrosian Market, take it to the Horon Village Shop to gain access to the secret member's area behind the shopkeeper. There you'll be able to buy a bigger Satchel.

Aquamentus is a huge, green dragon with a single horn. He has two attacks. A charge attack and a fireball attack. The fireballs spread out so you can easily dodge them, as long as you're not right on top of the boss when he shoots them.
Aquamentus' second attack is a charge. When he is about to do this, he'll lower his head. This attack can be blocked by a Shield, but you are wiser to avoid it all together by maintaining your distance and stepping out of the way.

The way to take down Aquamentus is to get up close to him and nail him in the horn with your Sword. Once you get close, whack him as many times as possible before he goes on the counterattack. Twenty hits or so should bring him down.

Boss Fight Tip: Digdogger As you might expect, Digdogger will be thwarted by the Magnetic Gloves. There is a spiked ball in the upper right corner of the room, that can be used to attack him. Digdogger's only means of counterattack is to bop around the room and try to jump on top of you and squash you.
Use the Gloves to drag the spiked ball back and forth, pushing or pulling it into him when he lands. If you can get him in the center of the arena and pull the ball behind him, you will hit him once. Then push it into him and pull it through him once more. You'll only need to hit him once more to go to phase two of this fight.

When you hit Digdogger a bunch, he'll separate into five parts. These guys are much faster than the big one, but they can be killed the same way. Try to get them all in one go, or Digdogger will recombine and you'll have to repeat the whole process. Hoewever, each time he separates, there will only be those parts that you haven't yet destroyed. Take them down with the Magnet ball attack.

Boss Fight Tip: Dodongo This dinosaur can be tricky, but the advice from the owl should help. He's got two attacks, either he'll open his mouth and shoot fireballs at you, or he'll duck and charge. Whenever he opens his craw, chuck a Bomb inside. He'll balloon up and look all gassy. When he does, lift him with the Bracelet and toss him on the bed of spikes.

If you run out of Bombs, hack at the plants at the four corners of the room to get more. Just keep repeating the process. Four spike-trips will send Dodongo to his grave.

Boss Fight Tip: Gohma Gohma is a big, bad crab/spider thing that will give you fits if you don't approach the fight with caution. Not only is this thing fast and can damage you just by running into you, but it has a massive claw on the left side of its body that will grab you if you get too close.

When you first enter the room, avoid the shadow that zips all over the floor. You'll be at a severe disadvantage if you let Gohma drop on you from the get go. Then, wait for it to move vertically . If it has its eye open, it can see you... so don't get too close, or it will spring and crush you in its claw. That does a good deal of damage, so avoid it at all costs. When the eye closes, move in and whack at the claw. Make sure you keep an eye on the eye. If it opens, get back! After you've hit it awhile, the claw will fall off and he'll resort to chucking its young at you.

When this happens, fall back to a corner and swing wildly with the Sword. When the larvae go down temporarily, equip your Seed Shooter and get under the crab. As it passes over you, shoot some seeds at its belly--but only when its eyes are open. It may take a while, but eventually the crab will go down.

Boss Fight Tip: Manhandla Manhandla is pretty tough to beat. Sure, he's just a plant, but he's got four heads and take a while to drop. Each of the four heads is repeatedly spitting fireballs at you, so you'll have to move around quite a bit in order to stay alive. To take on Manhandla, you'll need your Feather and Magical Boomerang equipped. The Feather is to jump over the fireballs as you race around the arena. The Boomerang is to get at each of Manhandla's four venus-fly trap style noggins. You can only hurt them when their mouths are open, and often that means you'll have to nail the ones on the opposite side from where you are standing. The easiest way to do this is to stay near the bottom of the room, throwing you 'Rang directly up, next to the boss. When the Boomerang is at its furthest point, step under Manhandla, and the Boomerang will come back to you through his body, injuring him in the process.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to stay on the move. Don't worry about attacking... that will eventually take care of itself, as long as you keep sending your Boomerang out. When you've toppled all four of the plant's heads, he will turn into stem form only. When this happens, hit him repeatedly with your Boomerang at close range.

Eventually, he will shrivel, exposing a central heart. Use your Wooden Sword to destroy that and win the battle. One swing will do.

Boss Fight Tip: Mothula The room you fight this battle in has a rectangle of pit. If you mess up and fall in, you'll be knocked into the room below. If this happens, you'll need to get back upstairs via a trampoline. Place it anywhere besides the colored tiles to get back up to the fight. Mothula will zip around the central platforms, scattering baby moths and fireballs as she goes. You'll want to get to the center and stay there. When Mothula sprays fireballs, hop over them with the Feather. The baby moths can be taken down with a swat from your Sword. When Mothula flies near you, whale on her with your weapon. It will take three or four quality barrages to take her down.

Gasha Seed in Mayor's House Go to the Mayor's House in Horon Village. On the far right wall is a cracked place. Place a Bomb next to it to open a passage, then head inside to get a Gasha Seed.

Get More Seeds To get more Gasha Seeds, keep participating in the Subrosian Dance Competition any time you return to this land. If you are succesful, you'll get a Seed. Now go farm!

Get a Bigger Bomb Bag In Subrosia, right after you've traded the Star Shaped Ore for the Ribbon in the Market, exit the building and return. A Bigger Bomb Bag will now be in its place. The Market owner will trade you for 10 Bombs and 50 Ore Chunks. Now your Bomb sack will hold 30 Bombs.

Get a Bunch of Rings In the Subrosian Market, you can keep buying Rings with Ore Chunks by leaving and returning. You can get about four or five Rings this way. They keep increasing in price, but Ore is plentiful here. And when the Rings run out, there are Silver Seeds in their place.

Hidden Gasha Seed Once you get the Power of Autumn, change the season to Autumn and go back to Eyeglass Island. You'll now be able to get over to the chest there and claim a rare Gasha Seed.

Hidden Ring Once the Pirate Ship lands, you'll have an opportunity to get an easily overlooked Ring. Get off the ship to the left and move up and around the ship's bow to the beach. Follow the beach to the right until you find a Ring in a chest.

Hidden Rupees in the Biologist's House Once you get Bombs, go to the Biologist's House and use a Bomb on the cracked wall to the right. This will blast a hole in the wall, leading to a chest across a frozen swamp. Inside is a 20 Rupee piece.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Agahnim In order to beat Agahnim, you'll need plenty of Ember Seeds, some quick feet and your Sword. This crafty mini-boss will try to trick you with subterfuge and sly craftiness. Oh, and a good deal of shiftiness. And some double-dealing. His racket is that he separates into three parts, and you can't tell which one of him to hit. That is, until you drop an Ember Seed into each of the torches. When the torches are lit and Agahnim appears, a shadow will show up beneath the feet of the real McCoy. When this happens, approach the baddie and whack him with your Sword. But watch out for those huge fireballs he likes to throw. They're big and slow, but if you get near them, you'll feel the sting.

Eventually, each torch will fade, so they'll have to be lit several times during the course of the fight. If you run out of Ember Seeds, get more from the plants in the corners of the room. When Agahnim's flame is extinguished, he will drop a fairy and a portal.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Calamareye Three separate squids make up the fighting force of Calamareye. These guys surface from pools in the arena and try to pepper Link with fireballs. Other than that, they aren't much of a threat. But they are invulnerable in water, so you'll have to get them out of there. To do this, equip the Bracelet and your Sword. Wait for a squid to surface, then pull him out of the pond and chuck him into the corner. Then attack with the Sword as he's flopping back to the water. Repeat this process until all three squid go down. When this happens, you'll get a portal, a new staircase in the lower right corner of the room and a fairy.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Facade It's all a facade! This mini-boss is nothing more than a face, but he knows how to defend himself. He has three ways of doing so. Firstly, he will send out an army of spiders to nibble at you. Deal with them with your Sword. Secondly, he will send a stream of fireballs into the air. These are easy to dodge if you aren't up close. Just stay on the edge of the arena and watch the shadows. The third thing Facade will do is open the ground under your feet. When he starts making holes in the floor, run around like a crazy man until they go away.

To get back at the face, toss bombs at him when he appears. Make sure you aim at the center of his ugly mug, or you may miss the hit. You'll need five in order to drop him.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Goriya Brothers The Goriya Brothers share a single boomerang which they really like to throw back and forth. The problem happens when you get in their way. Ultimately, if you can predict where the boomerang will go, these guys will be pretty easy to beat. Just dodge the whirling 'rang and slay the Brothers with your Sword. When they drop, you'll get a healing fairy and a portal back to the first room in the Dungeon.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Syger This is one fast kitty! Syger is a sabre-toothed tiger with a red ball at the end of his tail. The object is to hit the ball, but Syger has advanced defenses, so this can be tough. This bad cat likes to curl up into a spiked ball and roll around the arena at top speed. When he does this, you'll have to avoid him. Pegasus Seeds help, so use them liberally. When Syger stops, charge in on the side the ball is on. Hack at the blinking ball until Syger turns spiky again, then get on the defensive. You'll need to do this several times in order to beat him, but when you do, you'll get the requisite fairy and portal.

Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Vire Vire's chamber is completely lined in spikes, so you'll have to step lively in order to beat him. Vire is the lapdog of Onox, but he definitely isn't a chip off the old baddie. He has several fireball attacks, but they are easily deflected by swatting your Sword. The main thing about this fight is staying in the center of the arena. Vire will come in for a piece of you every once in a while, but if you just keep a-swinging, you'll take him down easily. Just keep that Sword slashing and Vire will be toast.

More Hidden Rupees Once you get the Power of Autumn, head to the south end of town and use the stump here to change the season to Fall. Then head all the way to the left, slashing the plants and moving the mushrooms to get into the chest here. It contains 30 Rupees.

Mystery Seed Secret Near Talon's house, you will come across a pack of hapless Cuccos. Hit one of them with your sword. As it retaliates, drop a Mystery Seed on it and it will grow to Godzilla proportions. That's a lot of McNuggets.

Secret 100 Rupee Advance Shop If you're lucky enough to already own a Game Boy Advance (like many of the obsessed editors here at IGN), you can get into the Secret 100 Rupee Advance Shop in Oracle of Seasons. Simply plug this Game Boy game into your GBA and go to the house with the two doors in the village (shown below, left screenshot). On the GBC, the right door will be locked. On the GBA, you can march right in. The shopkeeper will welcome you and explain how only GBA players can access this store -- and as a special service, you can buy items here for 100 Rupees each. While some of the items are available elsewhere, you can also get a special Ring that's only availabe to GBA owners.

Trading Items Trading Items provide another quest for Link. You don't have to participate, but if you do, you'll reap a powerful Sword upgrade which will make the rest of the game much easier. Although you can trade items as you go along, I suggest doing it all at once.

Final Item Once you have the Phonograph, go through the Tarm Ruins to the Lost Woods. Play the Phonograph for the music-loving Deku Scrub and he'll give you instructions on how to get the Noble Sword. Move to the stump to the left and change the season to Winter. Head west in the Winter, west in the Autumn, west in the Spring and west in the Summer. You'll end up at a secret location, where you'll receive the Noble Sword.

Early Autumn NOTE: You can only do this after you have the Roc's Feather.

After you get the Zora's Flippers, go to the screen two screen s south from Malon and Talon's House, then jump over the hole and swim to the portal.

After the portal, go south one screen and pass all the lava to find the Bomb Flower. Pick it up with the Power Bracelet and take it to the Tower of Autumn and give it to the guy with the head band. You need to run next to him after he sets down the bomb.

From there, just go in and talk to Spirit of Autumn and you'll get the Autumn power for the Rod of Seasons.
