Oracle of Ages

Cheat: 100 Rupee Advance Shop

If you own a Game Boy Advance, you can get into the Secret 100 Rupee Advance Shop in Oracle of Ages. Simply plug this Game Boy game into your GBA and go to the house with the two doors in the village (shown below, left screenshot). On the GBC, the right door will be locked. On the GBA, you can march right in. The shopkeeper will welcome you and explain how only GBA players can access this store -- and as a special service, you can buy items here for 100 Rupees each. While some of the items are available elsewhere, you can also get a special Ring that's only availabe to GBA owners.

Cheat: Hero's Game

Start a new game and as a secret type in: NNNN NNNN NNNN NNNN. You will start with 4 hearts, a weird name, and the triforce by link at the main menu.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Eyesoar

This flying peeper won't pose too many problems. His only attack is to send his little eyeball minions at you, and they are easily taken down with a simple sword. Killing the smaller eyeballs will give you a path to Eyesoar himself. When they are clear, use your Switch Hook to trade places with him. He will be stunned for a moment, allowing you to swoop in and slice at him. Repeat this process until he drops.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Plasmarine

Plasmarine is another deep sea lowlife that will need some serious sorting. He is impervious to normal weapons. In fact, all that they do to him is change his color. Plasmarine will scoot around the area spitting fireballs.

Like most Bosses, Plasmarine can be beaten using the item you picked up in the Dungeon. Wait for the big lug to spit a fireball at you, then aim the Long Hook at him and switch. He will trade places with you and land on his own fireball. Hah! You'll have to do this six times until Mr. Fishypants dies.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Pumpkinhead

For a jack-o-lantern, this guy's pretty nimble. But he's easy to beat, as long as you know what to do. The Head will leap around the arena, trying to land on you. If he does, you'll lose some Heart, so watch out for his stompin'. He'll also shoot fireballs at you, so avoid getting too close to him. Otherwise, these attacks are simple to avoid.

The object of this fight is to separate the head from the body. To do this, charge in and whack him with your sword. If you hit him enough, his head will fall to the floor and a small fiery spirit will emerge. When this happens, use your Bracelet to lift the head and chuck it at the little fireball. When you successfully hit him twice this way, the fight will end.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Ram Rock

Ramrock is a big steel head. You'll have to use your entire arsenal of items to battle him, and his fight takes place in four parts.

Ramrock: Part 1
In Part one of the battle, Ramrock will toss his hands at you. If they hit you, they'll take a chunk of Hearts, so don't let them. Instead, equip your Sword and bat them away. The idea here is to use his own hands against him. Your job is to mirror his movements on the lower half of the room. However, as he nears a wall, stop a few spaces away. As he rebounds off the wall, he'll send his hands at you. Hit them back up into him and he'll shudder in agony. Nail him three times and it'll be time for Part 2.

Ramrock: Part 2
Ramrock likes to use his hands. This time, he'll break away from his track at the top of the room and approach you directly. He'll try to get you between his outstretched palms and crush you inside. Simply run around him. When he opens his hands, chuck a Bomb in there. As he closes his mitts, the Bomb will go off, taking a chunk of him with it. Keep him towards the north side of the room, as it's easier to scoot under him to place Bombs. After three explosions, Ramrock will change his approach.

Ramrock: Part 3
In Part 3 of the fight, the steel-clad menace will retreat inside a shield. He's back up to his old track along the top wall. This time, he'll pop out only to shoot either energy balls or lasers at you. The balls are easy enough to avoid, but the lasers can be nasty. If he brings those out, run to the opposite wall and cling there. The only way to get at him is with the Seed Shooter. Any Seeds will work. Wait until he moves past, then get up near the top wall and wait for him to bounce back. As he comes toward you, deflect a shot off of the top wall, angling it into him. Five Seeds in the gullet will cause him to switch to his fourth form.

Ramrock: Part 4
No more Mr. Nice Guy. Ramrock drops his shields in favor of a pair of large wrecking ball hands. Lucky for you they move pretty slow and are easy to dodge. The way to beat him here is to equip your Power Glove. As he tries to slam you with one wrecking ball, go to the other one and begin to pull it (as you would a pulley). Pull it all the way out, then let go and it will recoil and hit the big lug in the face. You'll have to do it three times before Ramrock says ni-night for good. Make sure you collect your Heart Container and the Falling Star Essence.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Shadow Hag

The fight against Shadow Hag takes a considerable amount of cunning on your part, and some good shooting in the end. The Hag does not like to be seen. If you look at her, she will turn to shadow. Actually, four shadows. You'll have to dodge these as they zip and weave around the arena. Eventually, the old girl will come back together. When this happens, she'll puff out some butterflies at you, then attempts to get behind you and charge.

To beat her, you'll have to avoid being seen. First, dodge the shadows until she comes back together. Then, quickly hack up the moths, facing away from the Hag. Just as she begins to charge from behind, shoot a Seed into the wall in front of you, deflecting it into the charging Hag. Then, quickly move out of the way. Do this six times and the shadowy biddy will drop. Grab your Heart Container, then claim the Echoing Howl.

Hint: Boss Fight Tip: Smog

To fight Smog, you'll need your Cane of Somaria and your Sword. The boss starts in several pieces and you have to use the power of the Cane to bring them together. Once this is done, you can run in and slash at Smog with your mighty sword. If you don't like the way the way things are going, you can always stomp on the button in the upper left corner of the room. This will refresh the puzzle.

1: There are two Smog Bits in the first puzzle, zipping around T-shaped blocks. Avoid the Smog Bits and place a Somaria block in the dead center of the two puzzles, making Smog whole again. Watch out for his lightning breath when he comes back together and get in his face with your Sword. When you smite him, you'll be taken to another puzzle.
2: This time there are three Smog Bits. First place a Somaria block left of the bottom block on the far right column. This should bring the first two Bits together. Now the two remaining pieces will be moving around their block columns in a circular fashion toward one another. As one of them rounds the top of the column, place a block on either the right or left column at the very top position, making Smog reconvene. Take him down with your sword.
3. The idea for this puzzle is to get the two Smog Bits that are tracking along the long, horizontal rows to the left and right to circle the single blocks. To achieve this, place a block at the end of each row near the single block. As the Smog Bit approaches, place another block one space up, sending it to the single block. When each is orbiting its single block, Smog will combine. Bit him with your Sword.
4. Like the second puzzle, the fourth requires you to join three parts. Work on the center portion first, tossing a block between the upper block of the diagonal and the right, vertical column. This will force the two pieces together. Now move to the left. As the Smog Bit circles the left column, put a Somaria block to the right of the bottom block on this column, then (as the Smog Bit begins to follow this pattern) put another block just right of the one you just made. Put another block just to the right of this two-square, moving the Smog Bit onto the diagonal portion, putting Smog back together for good. Now kill him with your sword.

Hint: Boss Fight Tips: Octogon

Octogon is a big, wet squid who will take the fight to you above the surface of the water, then go below to brawl some more. His main tactic is to circle you as you stand on the central platform, shooting projectiles at you or arching fireballs. Later, he'll submerge and you'll have to follow him below the waves. His attack here isn't too severe--he'll just try to encase you in a bubble and take the fight back up top.

Use either your Noble Sword (which you should have by now after completing the Trading Items quest. See the Items section of this guide) or the Seed Shooter and dodge his projectiles. The beauty of the Noble Sword is that you can knock down what he's shooting at you while you prepare to attack. When he stops shooting projectiles at you, dive into the water, because he's about to unleash some fiery fury.

While underwater, watch out for his bubbles, as they'll sting you and send you back above the water. Use the power of your Mermaid Suit to quickly circle him, peppering the squid with rounds from your Seed Shooter. When he's taken enough abuse, he'll go back upstairs and you can follow him. Repeat this pattern until he's belly up.

Hint: Expand Your Bomb Bag

On your way to Restoration Wall to fix the Tuni Nut (Level 4), you'll push a red rock that changes the landscape. Once this happens, go back through the cave and return to the time hole above.

Go down the ladder near the hole, then get next to the vine sprout. Play your Harp here to send things back to the present. When you arrive, climb the vine to a cliff with a small pool of water on it. There is a sign here that tells you not to throw anything in the water. You like to break the rules, right? Chuck a Bomb into the center of this pool. A floating eye with wings will appear and ask you what you threw in.  Tell him you tossed in a regular Bomb. He'll expand your Bomb bag to hold 30.

Hint: Expand your Seed Satchel

Once you have the Seed Shooter, return to Tingle, using the cave below (the one with the crystal ball in it). When you talk to him again, he will expand your Seed Satchel. Now you'll be able to carry 50 Seeds of each flavor.

Hint: Final Boss Fight Tip: Veran

Veran: Part 1
Veran's battle is split into three parts. The first of these plays a lot like the last time you met her (when you freeed Nayru). Use the Mystery Seed to stun her, then use the Long Switch to displace her, then run in and swing with your Sword.

Two things have changed. Firstly, Veran is much quicker and wary of you getting too near. Secondly, she's got spiders at her command now which will try to slow you down. Hack them out of your way to get to her andd use the pattern described above to beat this form. Once you do, Veran will split from Ambi and get much uglier.

Veran: Part 2
Veran has turned into an insect, and she's surrounded herself with four circling Link golems. These move counter to your movement, so be careful to avoid them.Veran will float around the room and pepper you with fireballs. To deal with her golems, hack at them with the Sword like you did with the Hardhat Beetles during the Restoration ceremonies. This will pack them into a group and make them easier to deal with.

Move to the periphery to take on Veran. She likes to flit from one side of the room to the other, and she's easier to hit if you aren't in the center. As you're moving around avoiding fireballs, charge your Sword. That way, when the bug gets near you, you can really let her have it with the Sword. Once you whack her six times with spin attacks, she'll transmute again. You've won! Nope... even though you take the ceremony outside, a Wallmaster snatches you and plops you down into a dank dungeon.

Veran: Part 3
Veran is ticked off now. She's fully shifted into her beastly form, which breaks down into three insect flavors. She'll freely change between them during the course of the fight and you'll need to know how to handle them all. You'll know when she's about to die, because she will shift forms much faster. Have at it!

Beetle Form
As the Beetle, Veran likes to pound the ground by leaping in the air and smashing anything below her. Your job is to avoid the shadow as it's coming down, but to be close enough to strike when she falls. When she lands, she'll show her face for a second. Hit her mug with your Sword until she balls up and repeats the pounding or changes forms.

Spider Form
The Spider form is hard to predict simply because Veran has a large range of motion. She can disappear and attack from above or shoot webs at you from across the room. Keep your distance, but don't get as far away as the opposite end of the room. Whenever she lands, use a Bomb to sting her, bringing out her face. When it's exposed, run in and swipe at it with the Sword.

Bee Form
When Veran switches to the Bee fom, she'll gain a lot of speed. You'll have to watch out for long-range stinger attacks. Avoid these by dropping to the bottom of the room and moving laterally to dodge them. She'll also try to encircle herself with smaller bees. Treat this like the very first Mini-Boss you faced in the game. Kill her bees to get to her. Lastly, shell charge at you and simply try to damage you with her body. Don't get crowded into a corner, or you'll take massive damage.

Your best bet with the Bee is to move around the room, avoiding her attacks and getting a swat in from time to time. It's likely that Veran won't remain the Bee for long. You can also hit this form with the Seed Shooter, so keep that in mind if you want to attack from distance.

Be prepared for any form at any time. Keep your Seed Shooter and Sword handy and just stay on your toes, and you'll be the victor.

Hint: Goron Target Practice Prizes

At the Goron version of the target practice (similar to the one in Lynna in past) they don't tell you the prizes in advance. But I do. Enjoy.

  • 50 points or less: Nothing
  • 100 points-190 points:30 Rupees
  • 200 points-390 points: Gasha Seed
  • 400 points and up: Ring

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Angler Fish

The Angler Fish is not much of a threat. He'll swim around the cavern, spitting bubbles. If they come into contact with your skin, they'll smart, but they're easily avoided simply because they move so damn slow. Make sure you have Roc's Feather equipped to leap out of the way of the bubbles and the Fish. In the other fist, equip the Seed Shooter with Scent ammo. If you score a hit on the Angler, he'll collapse and fall to the floor. This is your cue to run in and start whacking him with the Sword. You'll probably only have to do this three times to kill him.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Armos Warrior

The Armos Warrior rolls strapped with a large sword and shield. He'll use both to try to trample you, so stay out of his way. The Armos Warrior's main attack is to throw his sword at you. It will spin around the arena, following you until he grabs it again.

But you can use his mighty sword against him. As soon as he throws it, look to scoot around behind him. Since the blade homes in on you, it will fly into the Warrior if you're behind him. Do this three times to crack his Shield. After this is gone, the Armos Warrior will resort to bombs. Without his shield, you can get at him with the Seed Shooter. Just avoid his bombs and peg him with Seeds until he drops for good.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Death Stalfos

The Death Stalfos is all about the death. I mean, the word is in his name.Like most bosses, DS likes to chuck energy balls. Most of them will ding you good, but the jumbo ones will turn you into a baby, significantly slowing you down and leaving you vulnerable to DS's attacks.

To combat the big baddie, you'll have to redirect DS's attacks back at him. Equip your Sword and use it to swat the Stalfos' various attacks back in his grill. When you hit him with a big ball, he will turn into a baby bat, and you can swoop in and nail him with the Sword. Hit him thrice-like when he's a bat and the fight will end.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Giant Ghini

The Giant Ghini is no sweat. He really doesn't have much of a defense system, except for the orbiting fireballs that accompany him. If one hits you, it will hang on like a Wisp, but that is the only thing that should slow you down.

Hack at the fireballs quickly to expose a path to the Giant Ghini. When his companions are down, slash at the main guy with your Sword as fast as possible. It will only take about two or three passes to put him down.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Smasher

Remember the Great Moblin? I do. This fight is very similar, except that instead of fighting a large pig, you're scrapping with something that looks a lot like the unholy union of a manta ray and a demolition ball. Smasher (snappy name, huh?) will pick up the large, heavy ball that materializes in the arena and chuck it at you, just as the G'd up Moblin did. Your job is to avoid the ball and pick it up yourself, with the Bracelet, of course. Wait for him to throw it, run to the ball and heft it, then run at him and throw it. Don't hang on too long, though. The ball eventually fades. Hit Smasher five times and he'll drop like so much seafood.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Subterror

Subterror is easily defeated, once you know his spiel. Since he is a mole, he spends a good deal of time underground. To track his progress, just take a look at the moving lump of soil. The only way Subterror can hurt you is if he pops up under you and gets you with his corkscrew nose.

To defeat him, equip your Shovel and Sword. Track the mound around the map. Whenever it gets close to you, use the Shovel to quickly dig it up. When it appears aboveground, use your Sword to hack at it until it goes back underground. All you have to do is repeat this process until Subterror dies.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Swoop

Swoop is a wing'd beast with only one means of attack: dropping on you from above. You'll have to be quick to defeat him, as he doesn't stay on the ground long. The other thing you have to watch out for is that every time Swoop touches down, he opens a pit in the floor. If you are careless and fall through, you'll fall to a lower level of the Dungeon and have to make your way back upstairs to continue the fight.

Your best bet is to memorize the time Swoop spends in the air. He always flaps a specific amount of time before dive-bombing you. When he does finally drop to the turf, he will bounce a couple of times, so be on your toes. As the battle goes on, Swoop will bounce three times, so make sure you stay out of his way for each bounce. He will come to rest momentarily, and that's when you need to charge in and slash at him. If you can hit him with a charged-up swat, more the better. If you can stick to the outer edge of the room, you can avoid Swoop making holes altogether, as the outer rim is impervious to his cannonballing. Repeat the wait and swat tactic until Swoop goes down, then collect his Fairy.

Hint: Mini-Boss Fight Tip: Vire

Vire is a slippery little biscuit, but can be defeated with common household items (ie your Wooden Sword). He'll come at you with three separate energy attacks. All of these can be abtted down with your Sword, so they don't pose much of a threat. The red ones stay as single balls, but the yellow ones split into four balls and the blue ones always come at you in twos. Just keep pumping that Sword button and you should stay safe.

To get at Vire, patrol the outside ring of the arena and slash at him as he scoots from edge to edge. Each time you take a chunk out of him, he'll get a little speedier. After about three solid thwackings, he will become a pair of bats. Hit these once and Vire will be no more.

To see the rings section hit back and goto the Oracle of Seasons Area for help, its the same.

Hint: Trade Items to get the Noble Sword

Trading Items provide another quest for Link. You don't have to participate, but if you do, you'll reap a powerful Sword upgrade which will make the rest of the game much easier. Although you can trade items as you go along, I suggest doing it all at once right after the Level Four Dungeon.

1. Poe Clock
Get this from the Poe in the Graveyard.

2. Stationery-Past
Give the Poe Clock to the Postman to get the Staionery.

3. Stink Bag- Past
Go to the Toilet shack and give the disembodied hand the Stationery to get the Stink Bag.

4. Tasty Meat-Present
Go to Crescent Island. On the east shore is a teepee with a chef inside. Give him the Stink Bag and he'll trade you some Tasty Meat.

5. Doggie' Mask-Present
Go to the house with the Mask Salesman, just west of the drawbridge up to the Nuun Highlands. For the Tasty Meat, you'll get the Doggie's Mask.

6. Dumbbell-Present
Give the Doggie's Mask to Mamamu Yan, who lives near the Black Tower near the south of Lynna City. She'll give you the Dumbbell in return.

7. Cheesy Moustache-Past
In the basement of Middle House in Symmetry city, you'll find a thin man wobbling back and forth. Give him the Dumbbell, equalizing his weight. He'll give you a Cheesy Mustache in gratitude.

8. Funny Joke-Present
Go to the east bank of the center stream in Lyanna City. Give the Cheesy Moustache to the right of the two lads standing there. He'll give you a Funny Joke to tell.

9. Touching Book-Past
Warp to the past and go find the depressed guy hanging out alone in his house--he's just to the left of the Target Range. Tell him the Funny Joke and he'll give you the Touching Book.

10. Magic Oar-Present
After you get the Touching Book, the next time you run into Maple, she will give you the Magic Oar.

11. Sea Ukelele-Past
Go to Rafton's raft shop on the east shore of Lyanna Village. Give him the Magic Oar to get the Sea Ukelele.

12. Broken Sword-Past
Go to where your starting point would be in the Present. Notice the holes in the ground? Use the Switch Hook and the tilted blocks to get across. Move down the coast until you find a small shack. The Zora inside will give you a Broken Sword for your Ukelele.

13. Fix the Sword
To get the Broken Sword made whole again, go back to Restoration Wall and talk to Patch. He'll have you participate in another fixing ritual (like the one you did to get the Tuni Nut fixed). Once you successful complete the slightly harder ceremony, your Sword will be fixed... into a Noble Sword!

A Link to the past with Four Swords Cheats

Earn the Hurricane Blade in Four Swords

To get the Hurricane Blade attack in Four Swords, first get 10 Medals of Courage. Then, in A Link to the Past, complete the Riddle Quest to get the Hurricnae Blade attack. When you save and turn on the game again, a message will appear saying you can use it.

Hint: Dumb Rupees

There's a cave under a big rock just before you enter the desert (in the western part of the Overworld) where a thief is surrounded by pots. If you enter the cave and smash the pots for rupees, you can get 50 rupees each time.

Hint: Level Four Sword

Once you get the tempered Master Sword, go to where you got the silver arrows and throw the sword in. If done correctly, the fairy will give you the level four sword which is gold in color.

Hint: Palace of the Four Sword

The Palace of the Four Sword is a secret level that is only available on the GBA version of A Link to the Past. To unlock this level, you must defeat Ganon in A Link to the Past and you must defeat Vaati in the Silver Key quest in Four Swords.

Blind Spot In Tile Trap Rooms

In rooms with the poltregeist tiles, stand at the edge of the room and face the center of the room. The tiles will bounce harmlessly off the shield.

Drastic Dark World Shortcut

Upon entering Dark World and completing the first dungeon, Link can enter the Thieves' Den dungeon in the Village of Outcasts and upon completing it, he can use the Titan's Mitt to get the Dwarves to upgrade the Master Sword from L2 to L3.

Riddle Mini-Quest

Earn ten medals in the Four Swords mode to start the riddle quest with the Lumberjack in Link to the Past. Finish the Riddle Quest to obtain the "Hurricane Blade" skill.

Running Man

The running man in Kakariko Village, that dashes away from you each time you approach, can actually be caught up to. To catch him, run towards him with the Pegasus Shoes. It'll take some practice, but you can catch up to him. Nothing useful happens though, he just tells you about some various things that aren't very important. Still, it's fun to be able to catch him. He's a fast bastard!

The Chickens Attack!

The Chickens found in Kakariko Village and other areas have a vendetta against you; that is, of course, if you attack them. Hit a chicken enough with your various weapons, whether it be sword, arrow, bomb, whatever, and the chickens will come from all directions to peck you! It's a storm of chickens! Not really a useful secret, but a good one none-the-less, wouldn't you say?

The Waterfall of Wishing

A fairly important secret, the Waterfall of Wishing provides Link the opportunity to upgrade two of his very important items, his Shield and his Boomerang. The Waterfall of Wishing is located at the end of the river in which you get the Flippers from Zora, but on the opposite end of the river. Pass by the Witch's Hut, move the green stone to gain access to the river, and you'll be in the general vicinity. You need the Flippers to access the Waterfall of Wishing, however. Read the signs in the area to find its location, and then jump into the water. Swim north into a waterfall and you'll be in a secret cave. Now, approach the pond in the cave and it'll ask you to throw an item into the water. Throw your Shield in the water to get the Red Shield back, and your Boomerang in the water to get the Magical Boomerang back, both free of charge! Pretty easy, eh?

Unlock Sword Beam in Four Swords

Play Link to the Past and get the Master Sword in the Lost Woods (you will need all three amulets for this). Once you have the Master Sword, save your game. When you quit and start the game again, a message will confirm that you can now use the Sword Beam (when your heart meter is full) in Four Swords as well.

The Wind Waker

New Costumes and DX Camera

Beat the game to unlock a couple new costumes. Link will be dressed in his blue outfit throughout the adventure, and his sister will wear a skull shirt. You will also have instant access to the DX Color Camera (even if you finished the game with the standard camera only). Finally, all Hylian text will be translated into English the second time through.

To make this work, make sure you save at the end of the game, and start the game again with that save file.

NOTE: copying the files does NOT work in this trick. (thanks Locke!)

The quickly press Y then start/pause right after (you have to do it so fast that he doesn't take out the tingle tuner yet). Then while on the inventory screen, set bombs to Y. Then unpause the game and Link should hold a bomb over his head and a message will appear that says you can only call Tingle in places that have maps. Quickly press A or the bomb will blow up on you. Now you can move around with a bomb!

Fun With Time

There is a clock-specific Easter Egg in the game. If your GameCube's internal clock is set to daytime, the background on the save game selection screen will show a blue daytime sky. If it's night, the screen will show be a starry sky backdrop instead. To change your clock setting, hold A while powering up your GameCube and select the Calendar function.

Get Hero's Charm

First, get the Cabana Deed from the school teacher (as described in the Windfall walkthrough in our strategy guide). Then collect 40 Joy Pendants (on top of the 20 you gave to the teacher). You can steal Joy Pendants from Bokoblins, so be sure to visit the outlook platforms on the ocean. Visit the schoolhouse again and present her with them. If you have more than 40, she'll take those, too.

As a reward, you will receive the Hero's Charm. You can equip this mask from the stats screen that shows your weapon, songs, and Triforce pieces. While it's equipped, you can see your enemies' hitpoints.

Get Hurricane Spin

Collect or steal Knight's Crests from the armored Darknut Knights. As soon as you have 10, go back to Outset Island and show them to Orca (the sword master). He will teach you the Hurricane Spin in return.

Hint: Link The Vandal

In order to get the contents of pots on unreachable shelves, such as in the Sturgeon's room, simply roll into the wall beneath them. The shelves break and the pots will crash to the floor.

Hint: Triple Dose Elixir

To have 3 helpings of Elixir, get a full bottle from your grandma and set it to Y. Hurry and press Y then start/pause (you have to do it so fast that he doesn't take out the tingle tuner yet). Set an empty bottle to Y and then unpause it. Link should then drink the ELixir soup leaving 1 helping left in the empty bottle. Pause the game and you will see the empty bottle with 1 helping in it, and you still have the full bottle!

Messing With Tingle

Tingle is rather fond of his golden statues. Hit them with your sword while the GBA is connected and on and he will comment on your reckless behavior. Even better, take a statue and throw it into the sea. Doing any of this things will get Tingle so irrate that he will drop bombs on you and scream in very large fonts. Also, if you come back later and talk to Knuckle, he will tell you that someone dropped the statues into the sea. But don't worry -- the statues will be back where they were.

Second Quest

Once you finish the game, you will be asked if you want to save your status. Select a new save spot if you want to preserve your last save. If you start a new game with this save, the following things will have changed for your second quest:

  • You will start the game with the Deluxe Picto Box, so you can immediately start taking color photos (all the figurines you have gathered during the first quest will remain)
  • Your clothes won't change. Instead of the green tunic, your grandma gives you an invisible one -- so you can play through the game with Link's blue "crab" outfit.
  • Your sister Aryll will wear a "skull dress" instead of her usual outfit.
  • Hyrulian dialogue is translated. You will now be able to read everything characters like Jabun or Valoo say to you.
  • The Treasure locations are moved further away from the islands.

Tingle Statues

Connect a GBA to the GameCube and play with a friend to discover secret Tingle statues inside each of the five main dungeons. The statue locations are marked as red question marks on your Tingle Tuner. Use a Tingle Bomb on the question mark to reveal them.

You can sell each statue to Tingle's brother on Tingle Island. They are worth 50 rupees each. When you collect them all, you will get a whopping 500 rupees, so make sure that you're wallet isn't full!

When Bacon Attacks

No, there are no chickens in this game. But that doesn't mean Wind Waker doesn't continue the "don't tease animals" theme. Try slashing at one of the little pigs on Windfall or Outset Island a few times, and you'll see what this all means?

Easy Blue Potion

Although the Windfall potion shop makes blue potions using the Blue Chu Jelly, the shop keeper requires 15 of them before the potion will be offered for sale.

A much quicker and more cost-effective way is to use the grappling hook on the Deku Baba Plants at the entrance to Forest Haven to swipe seeds. Five of them can be traded for one blue potion inside Forest Haven's potion shop.

Glitch: When Pigs Fly

Collect at least three Skull Necklaces. At Windfall Island, toss all three pigs into the ocean and talk to the pigs' owner. Trade the Skull Necklaces to start the mini-game. Now when you walk up to the pigs to catch them they won't run away but they will float above the ground and they will look like they're swimming.

Hint: Deluxe Picto Box

Once you get the Picto Box from Tingle's cell on Windfall Island, you can work on getting the Deluxe Picto Box. Visit the second floor of Lenzo's camera shop on Windfall, and speak to Lenzo--he'll send you on missions to take photographs, and afterwards give you the Picto Box Deluxe.

Hint: Fast Path To Big Money

Under the Fairy Upgrades code I found the there is an error in the order of upgrades given. You can actually get Biggest Wallet as the third upgrade item.

If you visit the 4 Fairy Locations, that do not require the Skull Hammer before you enter the Tower of the Gods you will be given upgrades in the following order:

1. Bigger Wallet: holds 1,000 rupees 2. More Bombs: 60 3. More Bombs: 99 4. Biggest Wallet: holds 5000 rupees

You will skip the Arrow upgrades and immediatly jump to getting more bombs and the Biggest Wallet.

Hint: Link And The Big Fat Pig

If you gave the little pigs to the fat lady on Outset Island, and then returned a little later in the game, the black pig will be huge and all the other pigs will be gone.

Once you have the power bracelets you can pick up the pig and throw it out of the pen and then pick it up and bring it to a black spot of soil, set it down and drop all-purpose bait on it and the pig will dig and you can get good items. You can also get a piece of heart!

Easy Items

To collect Chu Jelly, Knight's Crests, Joy Pendants and the like more reliably, use your grappling hook on enemies. Bokoblins will yield pendants, Moblins Skull Necklaces, armored "Knuckle" knights crests, ChuChu's jelly, Kargorok birds Golden Feathers, and Boko Baba Plants seeds.

Free Soup Potion

After clearing the first dungeon (and getting the grappling hook item), capture a fairy in a bottle (or buy a red potion) and head back to Outset Island (it is all the way on the bottom row of the overworld, the second square from the left).

Visit your grandma in your house, target her and use the fairy/red potion bottle on her. She will give you some of her special, healing soup in return. When the soup is used up, get a free refill from your grandma anytime.
