Mission Impossible 3 in the New Digital Theater

A new digital theater complex with 18 screens opened near our home. It is one of only 10 digital theaters in the country and the only one in our state. This Rave theater was fantastic. The popcorn was hot and of good quality. The seats were large and plush and staggered in a better way than I have ever seen. The THX sound was perfect. It was one fantastic place.

The movie was good, too. We loved that on-the-edge-of-your-seat action and the very big movie screen -- with no film flaws because it was digital -- yay! I only had one tiny disappointment - this movie did not have the surprises and subplots I expected. Oh well, it was a great action story anyway -- and great acting! I hope there's a fourth one.

Fifteen Ways to Live Longer

This is a self-running article. Just sit back and read. I was surprised at some of the results. For example, sleeping too much is a factor. Too much is bad. I like that since I only get 5 or 6 hours a night anyway. There were other things I liked to do in this. Why, I should live to be a 120 - ha!

Inspite of being heavier, we are living longer -- which is good to know since the news seems to be screaming with health warnings these days.

Snapzilla.com

I am totally hooked on SecondLife.com. Snapzilla is a site where people take snapshots of the things they see or do there. Pictures only stay up a few hours because so many are being made. Anyone who is currently a member can zoom over to the site being pictured. If not a member, then this shows some of what can be seen or done there. So far, I have sent a couple of snapshots over.

First, I was wondering around, looking at shops, when I hear children laughing and playing. I walked towards the site and found an amusement park with many happy children voices and lots of activity. I think it was a birthday party. Below are the photos I took. (I was going to post links but they scroll off too fast.) They were having a public chat so I even followed some conversations.

Then I took a picture of myself on my island with my neighbor's island in the background. My island isn't visible here. I am still fixing it up. There are many places to "live" including cities, snowy places, floating sky places, on mountains, in caves, or in large themed communities of every kind. I made some friends and decided to move near them on a small island chain. It has been fun fixing up my house.

Today, through Snapzilla, I dropped in on a huge conference with 30 or more avatars. it had just ended but it was fun to sit in the crowd and follow the public conversations (private ones can be held at any time, too).

Dr. Who

We've been watching the new Dr. Who series Friday nights on the Sci-Fi Channel. My husband and I were fans of the old series, having seen all of the shows, even taping many of them and we like the new series, too. There's something about British humor and sci-fi that is just appealing. (We liked "Are You Being Served?" It's a very old British comedy that plays on the PBS channels. I think I've seen every episode many times over.)

Now that we have a DVR, we catch Jay Leno's comedy routines to watch the next afternoon -- much fun. Stargate and Atlantis are family favorites, too. (Pictured here is the new Dr. Who that we have not seen yet in the U.S. replays. The previous one quit after 2 years because he did not want to get stereotyped.)

Seventy-Three Percent

Today's newspaper says that 75 percent of people in this country are using the Internet. I remember talking to my daughter about this.

We had been talking about baby names and she jokingly said that I had to go and give her the most common girl's name in the country that year she was born -- Jennifer. I replied, "Well, I didn't know it was that popular! We did not have the Internet in those days." She accepted that as a good excuse.

Not only that, but I was living in a college town and had more single friends than married ones so baby names was not much of a discussion. I had liked the name Jennifer since I was a teenager.

We thought she was going to be a boy and called her "Jonathon" during the whole pregnancy. I tell Jonathan my son-in-law, that we were just priming her for him.
