Are there any lyrics to read here?
You can find the lyrics to all the KOMI songs at this website on the Songs and Lyrics pages. Reading these lyrics is important to appreciate the KOMI experience and it's message. The lyrics are crafted as the music is, delicately. Plus, lyrics that deliver positive messages need to be impressed upon the listener. When you click on any of the songs in the list, a new browser window will open that contains the lyrics.
Why the big deal before KOMI was released?
The pre-promotion of this CD was a heavy agenda because, for one, it is an independent project. An "Indie" project is not supported by big dollars and high-profile advertising. The "hype" was to get people recognizing the project before its release. But it was especially important for KOMI to get a lot of pre-exposure because it is a special project, unique in many ways to the independent music community. KOMI seeks a special audience, people who love music and devote time to listening and appreciating it. The producers need to find the audience and this was one of the best ways they knew how.
Who is behind this project?
A number of experienced, veteran musicians and song writers, led by Frank Cotolo and Cool Noise Studios. It is their intent to take pop-rock music to a level that defies genre and cannot be categorized, so that the integrity of the music comes first. They are producing music that is deeply positive and untouched by labels or motivated by commercial whims. It does not cater to whatever happens to be chic today. This doesn't mean some of the music isn't memorable. Indeed, it will be some of the most memorable music you will hear in your lifetime, albeit different from the forms you might be used to. All in all, the producers want KOMI to widen your musical horizons and at the same time heighten your love for life. Here's a page that contains information about the KOMI Players.
Who exactly is The King Of Monkey Island?
You tell us. Who is The King Of Marvin Gardens? Who is The Catcher In The Rye? Who is The Sheik Of Arabi? The answers to all such questions are in the hearts of the audience.
Is KOMI available? Where can I get it?
KOMI was brought to the public this July, 2002. It costs $13 at Frank Cotolo's AMPCAST website. Anyone purchasing the CD will receive a FREE stereo cassette of SEVEN SQUARED, Cotolo's 1999 release. The CD package is designed by Larry Michelich, co-author of a KOMI track, a long-time friend and musical co-hort of Cotolo. The artwork is a complement to the majesty of sound that is KOMI. Michelich is also responsible for the design and layout of the KOMI websites and the KOMI products available at the KOMI Kollectibles Shop.
