Birth Date:
14/10/1978

Playing Position:
Attacker

Signed:
31/12/2002

International Honours:

Steven Thompson signed from Dundee United on the last day of 2002 to bring to a close a fantastic year for the Paisley-born striker.

He made his Scotland debut against France in March and went on to gather a total of seven caps that year and netted goals against a Hong Kong select and then Canada.

Direct, powerful and strong in the air, the 24 year-old gives Rangers a new option up front as they look to clinch their 50th league title this season.

Steven signed up at Tannadice straight from leaving Gryffe High School, Renfrewshire in 1996 and made his debut as a sub against Hearts on May 3rd, 1997.

It was in season 98/99 that he became a regular in the Dundee United side and in recent years he has added a goal-scoring element to his play, with 10 goals to his credit this season prior to joining Rangers. (9 for Utd and 1 for Scotland)

Thommo also enjoyed a dream Light Blue debut, netting as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Dundee at Ibrox on January 2!
