Fernando Ricksen joined Rangers from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2000 in a £3.6 million deal.

The tough-tackling wing-back has taken time to settle at Ibrox and his first season at the club was unfortunate to say the least.

He was red-carded against Celtic at Parkhead and withdrawn early on in the 6-2 defeat, but he’s learned from the experience and has recovered to become one of the clubs most consistent performers this season.

Fernando’s career is now going from strength to strength and an excellent performance in the Scottish Cup Final win over Celtic has helped him win over the fans.

He was outstanding alongside skipper Barry Ferguson and the young Dutchman is starting to fulfill his massive potential. He is also a full international and looks set to play a key part in Holland’s plans for the future.

Rangers Director of Football brought him to Ibrox and rewarded his form with a Dutch cap, under Dick’s and Alex McLeish’s guidance he should develop into a great player for the club.

Fernando has started this season with a bang and has been in inspirational form in his new midfield role alongside Baz and Mikel Arteta. The Dutchman's impressive form even earned him the SPL's Player of the Month award for October.
