Peter Lovenkrands was being chased by several Premiership clubs during the summer shutdown but chose to sign for Rangers for £1.5 million - a major triumph for ex boss Dick Advocaat and David Murray.

The 22-year-old forward, who was playing for AB Copenhagen, is considered one of the hottest properties in European football. Fellow Dane Brian Laudrup was quick to tip Lovenkrands as something special, commenting: "Everyone in Denmark thinks he has the potential to be a star. He has always looked a special player when I have seen him in action."

Lovenkrands is now a firm favourite with the Rangers fans thanks to his double strike against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final win at Hampden. In total Peter scored 5 goals against Martin O'Neill's side last season.

He has had a few injury problems this term but his pace and powerful running makes him a certain started when fit and he's currently negotiating a new long-term deal with the club.
