Stefan Klos signed for Rangers for £700,000 from Borussia Dortmund on Christmas Eve 1998 after a long-running transfer saga.

Before arriving in Glasgow, Klos was at Dortmund for 10 years, winning the German Bundesliga twice and gaining plenty of European experience. He appeared in the UEFA Cup Final in 1993 when Dortmund lost 6-1 on aggregate to Juventus, and actually played twice against Rangers in the Champions League in 1995-96 when both matches finished 2-2.

The highlight of his career so far was keeping goal for the Borussia Dortmund team which won the Champions' Cup by beating Juventus 3-1 in the Final in May 1997.

Since arriving at Ibrox Klos has won two league titles, two Scottish Cups and three league cups and has become a firm favourite with the fans by helping them to overcome the loss of legendary goalkeeper Andy Goram.

Nicknamed "Der Goalie", Klos signed an extension to his existing Rangers contract only last year to keep him at the club well into his 30s.

His experience has been invaluable in helping develop younger keepers at Ibrox like Allan McGregor and Graeme Smith.
