wandering on through the wilderness
I came across a strange sight
a girl lying alone in a clearing
unconscious in the snow

I ran over to her
terror gripping my heart
I knelt at her side
and turned her face towards mine

her face was familiar
but yet so terribly different
although my eyes did not recognize her
my heart and soul did

what has happened to my friend
the only one who ever understood me
who never judged me and who always knew
what was in my heart

how could this have happened
she used to be so full of joy and inspiration
now her dreams are shattered and she lies here
motionless on the floor

snow swirls around us
and the world gets colder
as I hold my dear friend in my arms
wishing she could tell me what happened

I hug her close
as my tears freeze to drops of ice
my mind is in shambles and all she can do
is stare sightlessly at the sky
